As long as companies like this are allowed to exist, there is a need for OWS!

Where on Earth did you come up with that statement? I see a lot of posts on the front page stipulating such and such hours ago.

Hum? It's 10:30 pm on !2/6 in New York and I just got out of a Working Group meeting. There were several going on. Today we occupied a foreclosed house. Sure, we're under attack, but it doesn't look like a dead movement to me.

ows isn't dead, its just getting started- compared to past freedom movements ows has grown at an amazing rate- and we have the honor to be a part of a movement that is changing the world. activist page http://1vbd3.cjb.net

As I pointed out above, I most certainly don't think OWS is dead either. I've been active in it since day one. That said, I'm not mindlessly enthusiastic about it either and mindful of the fact that its growth is by no means inevitable and it could drop dead at any moment, especially if people are not mindful of exactly how fragile its existence is and that, significant as it is, it's not really even a mass movement yet.

I was in New York last weekend and there was no more than 18 OWSers on the corner at any given time throughout the entire weekend. Is support dwindling or did I just catch them on a bad weekend?

It is true that since the eviction presence at Zuccotti has dwindled, but there are usually two or three Working Groups meeting in the Atrium virtually all day, every day from 9 in the morning until 9 at night and the GA is fairly well attended every night. Over 200 people were left homeless because of the raid. A lot of energy has been spent housing them. That seems to be stabilzing. Though temporary occupation communities have sprung up where people are being housed. Also, while plans are afoot for reoccupations, some people are on a hunger strike to get Trinity Church to allow OWS to use its property for an occupation and a national "next stage" demo was begun today with the occupation of foreclosed houses and moving families back into houses from which they have been evicted. While it is harder for passers by to get info, that really just scratches the surface of current activities.

Is this serious? This determines the failure of this movement?
