The mainstream media seems to be ignoring the news about wage legislation. Conflict of interest?

What does this have to do with Obama?

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

He will sign it, Romney will promise to sign it then flip flop as he does with everything. Obama also campaigned on raising wages.

Its still not enough, but that's a step in the right direction.

I doubt Nadar and Kucinich are shilling for Obama on this. Dems won't support this, they'll shoot for 8.50 which is an insult.

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

The legislation is already assembled with 10$ as the rate.

The article specifically says in the article that Obama planned to raise minimum wage no later than 2011. I'm still waiting that for that raise! Tell me again why are you voting for Obama?

[-] 3 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

Because I have no love for the silver spoon crowd or their proponents. Obama isn't perfect by far, but his international policies will be heralded as pure genius in about 10 years. Romney has never known the "dignity" of work, struggle, and is one of the most hollow soulless individuals I have ever seen. Not to mention Romney is an "Every Man" and the Every Man has no principles. We know of many things Romney says, and then flips the next week. Such are the positions of the Every Man.

Are you saying that Obama knows the dignity of work and struggle? Have you looked at his bio? Graduated with BS in 1983, worked in some community organizations for a few years. Started at Harvard in 1988. Graduated in 1991. Immediately started teaching at the law school, and ran a handful of organizations until being elected to the Senate in 1997. It isn't exactly a story of dignified work and struggle.

Are you saying there is no difference between self empowerment and being born with a silver spoon in your mouth? I notice you didn't imply he came from wealth.

[-] 1 points by friendlyopposition (574) 11 years ago

No, I'm not saying that at all. But don't tell me you are going to vote for Obama because he understands the 'dignity' of work and struggle. He went to private school, and then Columbia and Harvard. We can debate what "wealth" is, but he certainly didn't grow up poor or even middle class.

government jobs should pay more than that

[-] 2 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

They are referring to the federal minimum wage, not federal employees.

in san diego, I can work for $2 an hour on the city payroll

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

lol, wow. Now that is a fine example of wage slave.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

I think it may have been emergency welfare for able bodied road hazards

they were kind of vague on what the work would be

in San Diego , we don't slave for a wage. The wage slave's you.

Ha Ha. I miss San Diego. The women in Wisconsin are...strange.

There is NOTHING in your linked article that suggests Obama would be a better choice than Romney. Obama isn't sponsoring it, and the article even says both candidates support it:

"While running for office, President Barack Obama promised to raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2011. Both the president and his 2012 campaign opponent Republican Mitt Romney have supported the idea of adjusting the minimum wage to keep up with inflation."

Of course they do! It's election time!

Misleading partisan postings like this one make me wish I could reach through the Internet and grab you by the throat. This forum is no place for partisan politics: A vote for Obama OR a vote for Romney is a vote for the status quo - the corporate-controlled two-party tyranny that OWS opposes.

If you were being facetious, I apologize for missing the humor. If you were not, you should be banned for posting this.
