Hi from Amsterdam,

Occupy here does not have that impressive masses like you guys (yet?), but if you look statisticly holland is pretty active as well. And that is because it is a very american way kind of country, new amsterdam... good slogan.. occupy new amsterdam.

anyway that is not my point.

We pay a little less than fifty percent income tax.

that is pretty confronting not even counted the rediculous costs of health insurance (what wont cover shit and even make you pay money) and other added fees attached by law to our lives. The 99 So I was thinking, what about a system that as a citisen you can just arange how much tax you want to pay to which ministry.

Like a percentage spreader (for example online) where you can suport with your own money, the ministery you like to suport.

Like that you hit democracy very well I think

And than of course lower the taxes haha, because this is just a joke (of a system)

Support the ministery you like to support or you like to have voice!! education, immigration, infrastructure, natur or whatever!

What do you guys think??? I had to write it down because it just really inspires me!

jup so like that if a lot op people ( a high %%) does not give their money on a certain ´pie´ it obviously gets smaller and ends up even baned. always open to choose, whatever, there have to be some rules of course. it is all possible to get it worked out i feel like.

That's an interesting idea, perhaps a better way would be to have people submit their funding proposals (to which agency they want to send their taxes) and then have that tabulated in a pie chart to show the population what it looks like as a whole. Then maybe a debate could be held where each agency puts forth a representative to respond and make a case based on the that distribution. Finally, when taxes were due, people could adjust where they wanted to send their taxes.

and by not paying money you can boycot bad ideas non sence and bann it out of the world. money they can keep to work it out what the people are paying for!! duh!

you are hunderd procent right i puke of my people (half duch at least). I am married to an argentinian and it took me 3 years before we could legaly live together AFTER we marriied. now we still wait 3 months for a devinit yes or no

but that is not wat i am commenting about

that is why i would, in my idea above, not give my tax money to , to support. because the 99 is paying all the crap. it is disgusting.

that is why disgusting politics have to stop!!

i wish it would be here though, there so many misstands. i am really shocked today again because ´we¨ are putting out a teenager from angola. but .. since he can not talk of sadness surrounded by HIS family. maybe... (well passing by the trauma of course) it will be beter to not live in such a horrifing country. anyway. we pay a lot! I think that is what this is about no? How much you want to pay to a bank? u just fucking put it in perspective and vote where your own hard worked for money is going to!

interactive democracy?

Welcome to our forum nena. Interactive democracy is an excellent term. I think it should be adopted. It's a good idea. Our government, sadly, isn't nearly as progressive as yours. Maybe with what's going on now that will change. For many of us, Amsterdam is inspiring. A very historic, yet very modern city. I hope to visit some day. Some of us in this movement (well, me anyway) can take inspiration from some of your very own political "radicals" that helped Holland become the tolerant place it is today. I think the "Provos" and Robert Grootveld in particular would feel right at home in this movement and, if he were still alive, would be in downtown New York helping to lead the way. Again, welcome to the forum and thank you for your support.

holland is not tollerant, u can buy weed that is bout it. it is a myth, anyway i am not saying that we are on the bothom but it is hard for low and middleklass to make a living with all the raises of taxes we passed trough and do to the euro... thx for likeing the term :) it is very idealistic but what is wrong with that!

I like the idea Nena. It truly supports what the taxpayer desires. It lets everyone put their money where their mouth is.

Your mom hangs a pork chop around your neck just to get the dog to play with you.

The two things that I hate most in this world are people that are intolerant of other cultures, and the Dutch.
