JUST KIDDING...

I want you to know that there is a coordinated attack on the forum to undermine it. It is intentional and it's aim is to confuse, divide, and conquer. We have fake OWSers claiming that they are with the movement and then posting this crap like in the title. Then we have trolls who either incite fighting or else post something completely irrelevant or untrue in order to distract.

I wish the moderators would just censor them out, but let me clarify. I believe in freedom of speech... but... what I mean is that the GOVERNMENT cannot arrest or prevent us from speaking. This OWS forum is NOT the government so we should have a right to moderate, delete, or block ANYTHING we want, just like in real life. If you come into my house and call someone a #insert demeaning word here# I have every right to kick you out of my house. You can stand on my sidewalk and call me the same things and I can't do anything about it. Neither can the cops because you have freedom of speech when it comes to public spaces. But my house is my house, and I can kick you out or censor you for ANY reason. Well this forum is MY HOUSE, it is not a government site. It is open to the public, and you voluntarily come on your own, but it is not public. You can go to a museum that's open to the public but rest assured you will be kicked out if you try to piss on it's paintings (unless you can justify you are trying to put out a fire that you didn't start.)

I am not talking about censoring every single post that disagrees with OWS, because some people genuinely do oppose it, and can back that up WITH INTELLIGENCE AND REASONING. There definitely should be enough openeness for ayone to be able to question details of the movement, and even I don't agree with every point I have seen, especially from fringe OWSers. I am talking about censoring those people who are obviously here to subvert, and there is no changing their mind. No chance because they have and underlying goal, and it has nothing to do with genuinely trying to find a solution.

If you oppose OWS and there is no reasoning behind it, or your mind is not truly open, then you are free to discuss these things... but not here on this forum. kick em out! This is not the current policy (or else it is not being enforced, but it should be.)

Of course I am open to hearing reasoned arguments for or against this.

Discuss!

Totally agree. I think there must be some way to identify and classify real trolls, (possibly track down and expose their source?). We are not talking about people. We are not even talking about those people who don't like OWS and express their negative views. What we are talking about are cyber-mechanisms conducting cyber-attacks. This has nothing to do with free speech. This has to do with the denial of free speech caused by trolling. Cyber-mechanical trolls (possibly in some form like brain washed or lobotomized individuals sitting in some defense department cellar as in a really bad sci-fi movie) whose only cause it is to disrupt the forums on this website need to be exposed and kicked out, and kept out of this website not unlike one does with computer viruses and the like.

yeah this is what i mean... get rid of the spam trolls. so much noise!

[-] -1 points by DYLANDIRT (44) 12 years ago

Lets only talk to people who like us. We'll call everybody else trolls. When we take over we'll blend right in and nobody will be the wiser. They'll just think it's the same old crowd suppressing their thoughts.

[-] 2 points by Shule (2638) 12 years ago

Not what I was thinking of. I actually like talking to people with different ideas. That keeps my mind fresh. What I'm talking about is having to deal with zombies and machines. I'm hoping there are some geeks out there that can figure out some fancy computer code to root out zombie and machine trolls, and get that sort of stuff out?

[-] 0 points by DYLANDIRT (44) 12 years ago

The board would be empty without zombies. The movement would die.

Dylandirt: you are very wise- i see them as training, so i can get to know my enemy- they motivate me to fight against there kind- in the real world. They are our best members--

I see them as food for the trolls. Deep fried on a stick.

To the author, I love the example of a person in your house as opposed to out on the sidewalk. I couldn't agree more. " the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc." and " the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "for respect of the rights or reputation of others" or for the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of public health or morals" You're right, this is your house and a little order could save a lot of wasted time.

This forum is not the best way to know about OWS or be engaged with it. In fact it is no way to be engaged with it. If you are truly supportive of OWS then you have an obligation to join it. Go to at least one occupation for at least a day or go to at least one GA, most people live close enough to an occupation or a GA to visit one on a week end at least. After that, if you are too far from an occupation or a GA to participate in one regularly on at least a part time basis, start a GA in your community. If you build it they will come. That is the most supportive thing anyone could do for OWS. The most important thing about forums like this is that it is a place to recruit people into the movement, to turn supporters into activists.

Welcome to Politics.

Now, wait a second. They create a distraction to draw attention to themselves and then there are 3-4 threads devoted to them. Can't we just get on with it?

They really are not that bright and very transparent. So, can we go back to discussing all the cool stuff?

[-] -1 points by bereal (235) 12 years ago

Yeah, let's talk about all the free stuff you want!

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

HEY! Get your finger out of your nose and pull your pants up--crack kills.

Thanks for that.

It defiantly looks like a coordinated attempt to subtly confuse people into thinking that their peers are giving up. Probably works better than trying to argue on the facts, but its not gonna be successful, you can only pretend serious problems don't exist for so long...

[-] 1 points by burningman2012 (187) 12 years ago

since the camps have closed there is a lot of frustration because not everyone is on the same page. some people want a little change others like me want a revolution against the whole system we want a new way. some of us see the interconnected nature of events from the personal to global events some don't. they are either incapable or ignorant or both.
but when the people who should want revolution keep trying to marginalize the the true visionaries of the movement because they want to cling to the old ways well we have a problem... that is why some of us are so frustrated....this is not about campaign finance reform or corporate personhood or regulatory capture, no this is about capitalism and representative government and the material/consumer culture. so there is the problem...everyone needs to get on the bus with us we want to build something big, something bold, something beautiful, something new if not get out of our way. the system is broken and guess what it never worked..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bedecrwv-Mk&feature=player_embedded#!

[-] -1 points by DYLANDIRT (44) 12 years ago

Get out of our way. You're making a mockery of it all.

[-] 0 points by burningman2012 (187) 12 years ago

yeah if you don't want to get on the bus get out of the way so others can when they want to join us when they want

[-] 0 points by burningman2012 (187) 12 years ago

how so?

I came to the OWS website to see what it was all about, and I see a photo of a convicted murderer praising the movement, and this post backing free speech unless it's in your forum. Yet the group has occupied private property, and in fact continues to occupy private property. Do you see the irony? What's worse is that this is a public forum.

I may be wrong, but isn't your suggestion to censor folks who don't agree with you kind of anti-OWS ideology? Isn't censorship the start of a police state?

I hope that you're a minority voice in OWS. The type of control that you're advocating is the same type of control that I thought OWS was fighting. We're going to trade the 1% for people like you? And some of the comments on this post - does OWS support SOPA?

So far my take on OWS is that it's more about equality than freedom. I admit that I have a problem with that.

I'm headed in the same direction (Giving up on OWS) after they made Mumia Abu-Jamal their poster boy! A convicted cop murderer!

[-] -1 points by aries (463) from Nutley, NJ 12 years ago

More censorship lol! That's what happens when you know you are losing your argument. Censor your critics hahahaha! I guess you only want to hear from like minds to reinforce you insecure notions. Mob mentality.

There are two companies I would like to see occupied: Toshiba and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Toshiba commits fraud around the world and Enterprise is responsible for the death of two girls because they knowingly gave them a defective car.

Here is my evidence of the two companies, the stuff about Enterprise is near the end of the post.

Troll alert!!!

[-] -2 points by DYLANDIRT (44) 12 years ago

Censorship is good. We should have a book burning. Maybe a doorman at the protests. Keep the riff raff out. 1,2,3,4 What are we fighting for? When we just close the door.

[-] -2 points by MASTERdBATER2 (56) 12 years ago

I oppose OWS, but with excellent reasoning. They have drawn their line and I have drawn mine. Now my efforts go into watching this whole thing BURN.

OWS created my mentality, and now they will have to deal with it.

The French revolution beheaded 2 sets of leaders. There were 2 revolutions.

Revolution is actually perpetual. Fed by empty bellies, not ideology. The occupiers have been occupied. We are the 99%. We are the trolls. We are free speech. Block us.

When you play with fire, prepare to get burned.

[-] 1 points by Shule (2638) 12 years ago

Ok troll, I hit the dislike button on all your posts. Take that, and suck it up.

[-] -1 points by bereal (235) 12 years ago

I just un-did all of your "dislikes", ouch! LOL
