to discuss and compromise, the adversary must possess a little honesty and sincerity. there's none to be seen on the right side. their existence pollutes the gene pool of the planet.

There's none so blind as a repelicant (or is that repugnicant) who will not see.

Do you at least tolerate righties that have a position that is right?

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

When have the (R)epelican'ts had a position that was correct?

Help me out here, I was pretty young when Eisenhower was President.

[-] 1 points by ChemLady (576) 12 years ago

One position or a platform? Neither political party has done a good job of expressing the truth. I've been forced to look at individual issues and go with whomever I find least harmful. In general I find certain conservative issues valid and certain liberal one valid also. Politicians of all stripes lie and generally seem interested only in reelection.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

The question wasn't that difficult, but thanks for trying..........:)

It wasn't very informative though.

I hope she's not full of methadrine, like you are.

After all, you seem to think you give intelligent response.

You don't.

You can't spell, or write a complete sentence. Did you pass 4th grade writing yet?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You can't read at forth grade level yet?

Sorry, I'll dumb it down for a fascist.

Difficult to say who is done and who isn't. Both political parties are led by people that couldn't find the truth if they wanted to.

[Removed]

[-] 2 points by ChemLady (576) 12 years ago

You are quick to judge based on only a couple of sentences. I rarely vote for president, I tend to stay more involved with congress and local politics. My feeling has always been that to get that high up in either party you've sold off so many pieces of yourself that there isn't any real you left. I did have hopes that Obama was different because he hadn't been in the game so long. He's been something of a disappointment.

New England has a history of courageous politicians and people who are independent minded, and who simply put the country's interests ahead big moneyed or party interests of. I t was three NE republicans who were instrumental in bringing down the ugly period of McCarthyism. First and foremost it was Senator Margaret Chase Smith of Maine who spoke out very early in a famous speech she said, "...I don't want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the Four Horsemen of Calumny...Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry, and Smear." Then it was Senator Ralph Flanders R Vermont who introduced the motion in the Senate to censure Joe McCarthy. Finally it was an Army lawyer from Boston who put the final nail in the coffin of McCarthy's campaign of terror. In a very famous live television broadcast Senate hearing, he uttered these famous words..... when McCarthy started berating his young colleague's connection with the National Lawyer's Guild.... insuating that they were a Communist front organization....with tears in his eyes, he said to McCarthy, "....Let us not assasinate this lad further, Senator. You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency sir?" McCarthyism was dead with those few eloquent, heart-felt sentences.

To be fair, it was also a mid-westerner who also played a key role in McCarthy's demise. His name was President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was initially criticized for not speaking up against McCarthy, and told an aide that he did not want to get down in the gutter with him. Eisenhower knew though that if McCarthy was given enough rope, he would hang himself so to speak, so he was one of the people who helped organize a behind the scenes effort to have those live Senate hearings in which McCarthy did indeed do himself in.

President Eisenhower who was also the former Supreme Allied Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during World War II, should be mostly lauded for his stand against the military industrial complex. From three months into his presidency to his final speech as President, he warned the country of this impending nemesis, the MIC. In his final speech to the nation, he said, "Every gun that is made, every warhip launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." What a wonderful legacy he left us. It should be our job to see that it is finally implemented.

From this history lesson that I have humbly given, my point is that this movement should not become a partisan one in any way shape, or form. Democrats are almost as much to blame for our sorry state of affairs as are republicans. We are on a noble mission. As I have said many times before, this is about RIGHT and WRONG. I would much rather be out in the streets with all of you principled, courageous people than to get in the gutter of partisan politics to affect the positive change that we all want.

Believe me, I am not defending them. We just don't agree on the tactics needed to get where we both want to go. That's all.

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

it is our constitution right to lie, cheat & steal

[-] 0 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

You know that is not true. To steal is to "deprive another of their property" and that is distinctly prohibited in the Constitution.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

That never stopped WallStreet, nor any bank or corporation that wanted to.

[-] 3 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

Yes, so it's now our job - "the people" - who are the "real government" to act together to hold them accountable. Those currently representing "us" in government are not getting the job done.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Yep, and it's particulary nasty and ugly, on the part of those with an (R) after their names, so be sure to vote them out in '12'!!

[-] -1 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

Do not let your mind be "clouded" by the belief that political parties matter. They matter, but mostly to "the elite" who are able to use them to "pacify" the people. The overall goal should be the achievement of Liberty among The Republic, no matter who is "in office".

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Sorry, I'd like to believe you, but the evidence says otherwise, in many ways.

The (R)s just crashed us into a cliff.........................unapologeticly.

You would have to be completely "clouded" and at least a little mis-educated to vote for them again.

[-] 1 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

We have had this discussion and you know that I vote based on the individual, their words, and their voting record. Meaning that if the candidate I believed in was to switch parties, but their principles remained the same, I would still support them.

So, for you, I have an important question: Are you 100% loyal to the Democratic party for the past, present, and future?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I know you vote for Mr. P.

You have been entirely clouded, beyond that.

Preferring to accuse and assume, rather than reveal.

I think it's time for you to clearly answer some questions.

[-] 0 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

My question went un-answered.

Here it is, again: "Are you 100% loyal to the Democratic party for the past, present, and future?"

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

I'm 100% loyal to my family, nowhere else.

I will likely be voting Democratic for the next few election cycles.

I have yet to hear an honest word form the current crop of republicans.

Not one honest word..

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

... ok ...well.. 2 out 3 ain't that bad .... can we get the other two ... ;)

[-] -1 points by asauti (-113) from Port Orchard, WA 12 years ago

I guess that would depend on if one's lying or cheating could be proven, in court, as an infringement on another person's liberty. If it could be, then I would imagine statutes against said infringement would be "written into law".

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

Wish I could disagree but I can't, one gets bored squshing rightie ants, but I will pick a bone with your sentence structure. I contend that all righties are wrong but only most righties lie.... hmmm this could be tough don't know if I can defend that position.....

[-] 3 points by TheTrollSlayer (347) from Kingsport, TN 12 years ago

Reckon that could be because that's who we're mostly hearing from.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

none of them are repling to any of my post anymore, I guess their learning to pick their fights, my hats off to you sir living in the belly of the beast, I'm from east TN, living in AZ now, you can run into some pretty wild ideas out there

[-] 1 points by TheTrollSlayer (347) from Kingsport, TN 12 years ago

Kingsport is in upper east tennessee, hope you enjoy Arizona. Ive long seen how the republican leadership and media works, only to con the lessor informed to what they want them to believe. But lets not believe the democrats are all truthful and a saving grace for they are the problem as well. They've helped the corporate elite for decades as well and continue to keep things business as usual. Its more than the elite paying some taxes. Look at what free trade instead of fair trade has continued to do, fully supported by the democrats for instance. Google how many jobs got shipped out of country in 2011. They also help the elite continue to degrade this country and their not honest about it. Both sides are the problem, though one side is more outwardly dishonest about it.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

Well here's one place I think Reagan got it right, trust but verify. I could be wrong but I think I have some good ideas, and I want my ideas to be reflected in public policy so I chose to participate, I will say that when I took the time to watch CSPAN and watched each vote the dems were very consistent in that the majority of them almost always voted how I would have, in cases where that was not true the GOP did not vote as I would have, but it was a runaway vote in what I thought was the wrong direction, i.e. Iraq war.

[-] 3 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

LoL!

I was getting irritated when I posted this - global warming deniers kept hounding me so I decided to put up a banner. For some reason they tapered off right after that - but maybe just because it was late.

Not sure.

Don't care.

and yup - that could be a difficult position to defend - someone will certainly come along and assert that surely it isn't true, that in fact it is only a small minority of righties who have made both a habit and a career of lies . . . .

and as for the rest, probably lie no more nor less than average folk . . .

Personally I don't have a dog in that fight . . .

haha!

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

good points, one could contend that if a person truly believes an inaccurate postition they are merely misinformed and not lying still when taken collectively the positions of the right require that one consider only one issue at a time: Take abortion and the death penality, if life begins at conception why do you want to put the doctor away for a couple of years at most and the woman not at all? (speaking to a rightie of course) Hard to imgine their not fugeing the truth even to themseles a little.

[-] 2 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

LoL!

yes indeed. You know, it occurs to me that righties are indeed an argument unto themselves demonstrating the abundant necessity of drastically increasing both practices . . .

haha

just kidding

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

yeah me too I keep telling myself that, I really want to be just kidding, my son (who has a Poly Sci degree) will often say that he's a liberal because he wants to protect the wealthy from the guillotine

Here’s the dates, numbers used, 01/23/1981 (940), 1/20/1989 (2235), 01/23/1993 (3257), 01/19/2001 (10587), 01/23/2009 (8281), 01/26/2012 (12735),

opps sorry about that it's just the Dow Jones during a few recent Presidents, I think what it shows is how good policy can lift all boats, another way I like to pu it is, "I'd rather pay a little more tax on a 154% profit than less tax on a 22% loss."

I agree. There needs to be a change with our current people in office peacefully. This needs to be by the book as how it is reads in the US Constitution. This would be both sides from the President and Congress, I do feel that for the people to make a change everyone needs to come together this includes the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, and others. People need to research history, US policy and come to some king of common ground. If we do not do this we are just as bad as the current people in office.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I am ready to come together with all who are ready to raise taxes on the wealthy.

I don't want to do all this work and get nothing done just for the sake of being all together.

I don't know if any in the TEA Party are ready to raise taxes, but if they are welcome.

And I'll be more than happy to . . .

You and your Global Warming. Now I don't deny that we need to take care of our environment and leave as little of an impact as we can. I also realize there are a lot of reckless people and companies out there that could care less about the environment and only care about profits but it seems everyone on the Global Warming Bandwagon fail to take into account that the impact we truly have, even if it were eliminated entirely, won't stop Global Warming.

Tell me how responsible was the human race for the last Ice Age or the one before that? Of course Ice Ages eventually turn to Global Warming, Global Warming then segues into the next Ice Age and so on and so forth. We must take care of our environment but we can't stop it from happening and Global Warming is used as a scare tactic to the extent and for the purpose of grabbing power like any other scare tactic out there.

Apply a little common sense and balance to the argument. Oh you have your lying righties, Would you prefer whining or crying lefties?

OH Well I will just have to pay better attention tomorrow.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

How are you going to shut everything off to test your hypotheses?

We can't stop it? Why are you so defeatist?

The speed at which it's happening doesn't gibe with records.

The "scare tactics" are actually a marketing term to get you buy things, rather than think rationally.

You really should use a little common sense and balance your argument.

Yes, it's happening.

Yes, most data shows we are effecting it.

[-] 3 points by dogod (7) 12 years ago

90% of scientists agree Global Warming is very real and that humans are affecting it. As usual, Republican God boys are messed up in their logic and believe the fairy tales being told to them. Why shouldn't they? They grew up believing in a magical sky daddy.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

They haven't noticed the oceans are almost fished out, because Red Lobster is still open.

They highly underestimate mankind.

[-] -1 points by commonsense11 (195) 12 years ago

Were you here to document the last Ice Age? Do you know anything about the patterns that lead to it? I would say as things get closer and closer to shifting from one Age to the next things move much faster. We need to take care of our environment but this Global Warming Scare is a tactic and it also will make a lot of "Green Companies" very rich. I believe fully we should head that way and leave as little as a footprint as possible but you people crack me up. Unable to think for yourselves.

The fact is It's going to happen like it or not.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

They use coring of ice and sediments to get a picture of the rate these changes happen at.

It's more accurate than you might think, and it's becoming more complete.

The DATA demonstrates unprecedented speed, for this change.

You also confirmed my analysis of the "scare tactics", without acknowledging it.

It's you who's cracking me up, in a scary kind of way.

Indeed, your conclusion shows a complete lack of common sense.

[-] -1 points by commonsense11 (195) 12 years ago

Disagree. It is you who are being manipulated and weak of mind. Once again I do believe we need to do everything we can to reduce our impact but you are being played like an old fiddle if you take everything you hear and read as gospel. These trends will pick up speed as they progress. I don't think that is such an unusual revelation.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

WE can argue this over and over.

It won't change the science, and the science is what I pay attention to.

Keep on believing the corporate line if you like.

But please STOP using their inflammatory rhetoric on me.

It won't work.

[-] 1 points by commonsense11 (195) 12 years ago

We disagree as to what degree man is effecting this process. I don't deny that we have an effect. I just recognize that "scare tactics" are being employed and more blame is being placed on us then is true. There will be a lot of Green Companies that get rich off of this so we shouldn't be so naive as to not recognize that there are almost always ulterior motives.

I do however believe that the Green Movement is a good thing. I spend most of my free time outdoors and want nothing more then to see my grandchildren enjoy what I have enjoyed.

Now why would I do that?

I don't do drugs, and I don't have kids . . .

If righties really wanna end the practice of kids getting high one option might be legalization. It seems to keep alcohol out of school fairly well. Provided of course, it is supplemented with a proactive campaign to ensure those who facilitate underaged drinking are punished.

The other option is to enforce the law. A difficult choice, I know - especially since it often happens that local law enforcement is often locked out of pursuing drug dealers because of overlapping jurisdiction with federal agencies, thus leaving them with little say about the level of criminal activity taking place in their own community . . . .

Since I don't use myself, I really don't have a dog in that fight, and really can't see much point behind the validation of stopping by to comment.

The problem is that there is not enough variation between left and right. I live in a place considered as more leftist, and I fail to see the gain, I'm poorer by the years and I got incredible difficulties getting a service in sense.

What I say is that society can't be driven like a bus, left or right, and anyway, we are currently full speed in an oil slick with a precipice ahead, good luck! If we are lucky we'll get out of it before the inevitable, but we'll get very dirty doing so.

No need to answer with political questions, I'm out of politics, and I'm not a US citizen.

Somebody have to work with conversion. why want you talk about 104 atomic energy station in US instead? this is very bad for environment especially in this hard GEO political time. i mean it tremendous danger to homeland security like important government security objects.

"HATE" ZENDOG? Really? The tree of liberty is absolutely under significant siege today from a gathering storm. Call it it Euro-socialism, democratic-socialism, Marxism, liberalism, or simply the policies of the Obama administration partnered with an ever-expansive government in Washington, in the end the storm has one name: utopianism.“Utopianism is not new...“ It has been repackaged countless times—since Plato and before. It is as old as tyranny itself. In democracies, its practitioners legislate without end. In America, law is piled upon law in contravention and contradiction of the governing law—the Constitution.” Your too stupid to realize how stupid you really are......

I think many of them are sick. We need to help them. They're victims of people like Grover Norquist and John Boehner. The Christian Evangelicals/religious right are a powerful political force and they have been trained to be indoctrinated. Illogical thought process and brainwashing - what else explains how Republicans keep getting elected based on lies?

The Republicans use Christian Evangelicals to their advantage and it actually makes their job very easy.

[-] 2 points by hoot (313) 12 years ago

you guys are just as bad as christian fundamentalists. The higher than thou attitude needs to go if we actually want to progress. I'm no righty but i'm no arrogant piece of shit lefty either. you are no better than them. You trash talk these people based on extreme stereotypes, your just as bad as the christian evangelicals if not worse.

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

Technically, the Religious Right is much better than the left. They are far more organized and powerful politically. I don't claim to be higher than thou - only more logical than most arguments I've heard from the Religious Right. The higher than thou attitude is that of the Religious Right based on self righteousness rather than logic.

Sure, the left has its Sierra Clubs, and some other organizations like that. But none are so powerful as the calling from God.

You're right. The higher than thou attitude should go. Tell that to the Religious Right. Not I. Tell that to the Republicans who perversely use God in politics for their political advantage. The Republicans have turned this into a science. Often flip flopping all over the place with respect to Roe v Wade, since that is the main thing the Religious Right cares about. Eschewing all other rational logical thought, especially with regards to the economy. Believing the lies from the Republicans that higher taxes on the wealthy with destroy the economy for instance. The Republicans use this quite brilliantly. The Religious Right buy it because they are so gullible based on their propensity for indoctrination, and in the hopes of overturning Roe. Meanwhile the Republicans also get to serve the interests of the wealthy at the same time. It's a very good strategy really.

[-] 1 points by hoot (313) 12 years ago

im not saying that the right is innocent of any of this at all. but to complain about it constantly isn't going to change anything. the people on the right you are talking about take the "word of god" as law. but that is only one faction of the right. We need to get out of this dialectic mentality. We need to realize that intervention is wrong on a corporate level as well as government level we must live in a free society and quite frankly the nuts on the right have a closer idea to free society than the majority of the left. i know socially the right is retarded but im not sure that matters as much as a free economy the right needs to see the problem with corps and you and the left need to see the prob with government

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

Communication is a beautiful thing. "the right is retarded" - we agree! lol.

Everyone needs to see the problem of government corruption. It will be much more difficult to convince the right of this. The right generally see the solution of campaign reform as simply needing more transparency. So that it is more clear who is bribing who for what. If we're going to go the transparency route, I would argue for the opposite. Total and complete anonymity. So our politicians don't know who to do favors for and who to pay back, but instead can vote their conscience for the greater public good.

The right have already had their way with a free economy thank you very much. Deregulation, trusting the free market to take care of itself, and low tax rates on the wealthy, hasn't worked out very well. The right is not going to do any favors for the middle class and the economy as a whole.

What problems are you referring to that the left needs to see with government?

[-] 1 points by hoot (313) 12 years ago

ok first off the right sees the gov corruption is it not the left who wants a bigger more powerful government? A government that can pass bills such as NDAA and SOPA ACTA PIPA etc without our consent? A government that could potentially make abortions and gay marriage illegal or continue these crazy imperialist wars? Yes we would hope that the people with power wouldn't do these things but look at what they have been trying to do. we have never had a free market, we have a market controlled by the gov that supports corps and banks to serve them and not us. having a secret gov that votes their conscience is possibly the scariest thing possible letting them put through agendas that only serve themselves. we need to have full transparency to punish those who commit crimes against the public and we need a free market so that everyone is given an equal chance to make something of themselves. I'm a musician, now what would happen if the government decided there is no need for new music, what if they decide that i should be making sneakers in some factory away from the home i've made for myself and away from my family. You might say that this would never happen, and you may be right about tht, but what if it did, its completely plausible with a secret government that controls the market that picks who wins and who losses who could take more than 50 percent of our paychecks to support itself. thats far from a free society

you do realize that when you compare a political party from one era with a political party from another era, you tell on yourself as being a dunce. Those were different times and different people. What, do you believe the political parties don't change? I defend the blue team this time around because i've witnessed the red team's atrocities. You do realize that at one time there was a progressive wing in the republican party. There, at one time, was also a Conservative wing that was not bat shit crazy, but things change when ideas change.

[-] -2 points by FarIeymowat (49) 12 years ago

I have been alive through these times. It's not a different era to me. I believe both parties have gone left the past 25 years, and I believe the left wants to keep people on the dole for no other reason than a vote.

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

You are right, both parties are growing the Gov't. But at least the Blue team does not run on a platform of limited gov't and turns the table on the voters when they get in office. Politics is about self interests and if both parties are going to grow the gov't, I might as well fight for the side that is going to bring home the bacon for my class. A working class Republican is an oxymoron in my book. They remind me of dogs cowering to their masters in hopes that their masters will throw them a bone. This is the dirty truth that most people do not want to realize. Also, taxes have to go up and the red team is not up to the task.
