the last time gas spiked at its peak, the highways werent nearly as congested and rush hour was noticeably clearer. makes driving so much more pleasant.
plus mass transit ridership was up about 30 percent locally. their fleet runs largely on natural gas. a total win win.
Why can't people quit with the social driving....take a walk! I drive for my job. Get off the road and out of my way if your driving around looking for a bag of weed. Get a job

The rise in the price of gas is toughest on the poor. It is like a regressive tax. There are things that the President can do now:
Provide gas coupons tied to the Earned Income Tax Credit. Waive State and Fed tax to pay for the coupons (Up to $ 0.50 per gal is tax). (Requires Congress to act but would be difficult for them to vote against this)
Open up the strategic reserve, again.
Ease the new well permitting process.
Open ANWR to new exploration now (not necessary to drill but powerful psychological effect on the market as are items 2 and 3 )
If the President did these four things gas for the poor would drop $1 per gallon by April.
