the last time gas spiked at its peak, the highways werent nearly as congested and rush hour was noticeably clearer. makes driving so much more pleasant.

plus mass transit ridership was up about 30 percent locally. their fleet runs largely on natural gas. a total win win.

Why can't people quit with the social driving....take a walk! I drive for my job. Get off the road and out of my way if your driving around looking for a bag of weed. Get a job

a newspaper told me .

.

gas prices were rising due to speculation

that Iran may blockade the straight of Hormuz (a shipping waterway)

in retaliation of western economic sanctions against Iran.

.

The straight has not been closed.

.

Gasoline is rising due purely to speculation

i do wish our goverment had the balls to tax the stuff more. visit europe sometime, the prices there make us look like we're giving it away for free

Fuel is less than $0.15 (fifteen cents) a gallon. Visit Venezuela.

the right to drive a large automobile

[-] 2 points by JuanFenito (847) 12 years ago

It's right after the 65th, 64th, and 63d amendments, which cover the right to birth control, a house, and a college education.

Look pal, my LSR Machines are indeed protected under the second amendment. They are land based missiles and my pursuit of happiness involves triple digit speeds or short blasts less than ten seconds. See the Declaration of Independence.

The rise in the price of gas is toughest on the poor. It is like a regressive tax. There are things that the President can do now:

  1. Provide gas coupons tied to the Earned Income Tax Credit. Waive State and Fed tax to pay for the coupons (Up to $ 0.50 per gal is tax). (Requires Congress to act but would be difficult for them to vote against this)

  2. Open up the strategic reserve, again.

  3. Ease the new well permitting process.

  4. Open ANWR to new exploration now (not necessary to drill but powerful psychological effect on the market as are items 2 and 3 )

If the President did these four things gas for the poor would drop $1 per gallon by April.

Your fucking clueless. You have no idea about WTF you're talking about, your completely ignorant of the big picture of $5-$6 a gallon gas.

The fall out from that kind of pricing will affect your lifestyle and day to day existence more than you can know.

Why don't you get edumacated some and figure it out.

[-] -1 points by JuanFenito (847) 12 years ago

Well, I guess it would lower consumption and help the environment, so I don't mind if Obama raises gas prices too much...

However, if gas prices go up under Bush's watch, I feel it is an impeachment-worthy assault on the working class.

i welcome it. alternative energies would them become more economically viable, the infrastructure investments for more natural gas use would then happen.

it amuses how ppl believe the president has anything to do with gas prices. we cant stop the growing chinese and indian middle classes from hungering for energy.

Obama doesn't have any thing to do with them going up now, but Bush singlehandedly made them skyrocket.

[-] -1 points by SmeggitySpooge (78) 12 years ago

But then again, this guy is actually Obama's clone and is behind the scene pulling all the strings.

What are you talking about? That turncoat freak is working for the GOP? What has this country come to, we can't have hispanics working for the other side! What do you mean, Obama clone? He looks more like a HITLER clone!
