The core is rotten. The nation is doomed. It's only a matter of time before the trouble begins. Destruction is inevitable.

Welcome aboard the Titanic. We are the Third Class Citizens left to drown.

[-] 2 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

There have always been the Robber Barons among us. They use and abuse for their own gain only. These people have no conscience or sense of honor. They always seem to find their way into positions of power, either political or economic or military or even the mob types.

We enable these folks by going along with their subtle lies.

"I saw the enemy and it is us."

What character qualities do poor people have that thes " robber barons do not?

[-] 2 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

compassion and respect for their fellow man is what poor people have in common. and this is coming from the bottom rung. we don't see each other as commodities to be used and discarded. we see each other as equals reciprocating in like fashion. eye for an eye type shit.

[-] 2 points by Coriolanus (272) 12 years ago

"compassion and respect for their fellow man is what poor people have in common."

Well, it isn't that simple. There are really nasty poor people, including murderers, thieves and sociopaths, who have no respect or compassion for anyone, and there are noble and generous rich people. Poverty doesn't make one noble, and wealth doesn't make one evil. Those are independent human characteristics.

But the nasty rich people are generally smarter, and know how to make a buck. Their disregard for ethical behavior may make it easier for them to succeed financially. The evil people who remain poor don't know how to leverage their skills, or maybe don't have sufficient skills to begin with.

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

yOU MAKE NO POINT BUT TO SUGGEST A FULL BACK GROUND CHECK OF ANY PERSON MAKING MORE THAN 250,000 dollars for the betterment of society, but I don't think you took your discovery to the next level.

[-] 1 points by Coriolanus (272) 12 years ago

"You make no point."

The point I was making is that the statement "compassion and respect for their fellow man is what poor people have in common" is not necessarily true (and no supportive evidence is provided for it). In my experience, not all poor people share those characteristics in common.

"BUT TO SUGGEST A FULL BACK GROUND CHECK OF ANY PERSON MAKING MORE THAN 250,000 dollars for the betterment of society"

I didn't suggest such a thing (and I have no clue what it means).

"I don't think you took your discovery to the next level."

I didn't make a discovery, just an observation. And I don't know what is meant by "next level."

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

a similarity in action by three groups of people leaves the observer to say what about those three groups are the same. you opined that "There are really nasty poor people," and "nasty rich people are generally smarter, and know how to make a buck." So who do you fear more and what is a good way to alleviate the symptoms of the greater threat? I have seen the depth of depravity of poor people, and I'm not impressed with their power. can you say the same about the latter? even with the greater percent of the population at the bottom, government does a great job at keeping depraved psychopaths at bay. and i did not mean to use capital letters if you happen to be one of those peeps who freak out about such things. cheers!

[-] 1 points by Coriolanus (272) 12 years ago

Those are all very different questions that are not necessarily related to the statement to which I was responding.

No, I don't care about capital letters (it was just a copy/paste).

"Protesting on a sinking ship". Yes. I read an excellent analogy recently "starting to protest now is like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic"! About 12 years too late!

[-] 0 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

Glad to see this debate finally rising about the level of white noise.

I have been asking rhetorically for weeks "Fight for what?" "DIE FOR WHAT?"

The America, the myth is long dead, robbed, killed, destroyed, tomorrows America is hell on earth. Wake up people, the DHS, TSA, ... this is only a small taste of Nazi Paradise to come.

Like WHY is nobody talking about "FUSION CENTERS" here? The ultimate HITLERIAN wet-dream, but we have them now "FUSION CENTERS" all over ameriKKKa and not a peep from OWS.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

"One such fusion center has been involved with spying on anti-war and peace activists as well as anarchists in Washington State."

Oh snap

[-] 1 points by Windsofchange (1044) 12 years ago

We can't trust our Government--they will send us the river in no time flat.

What we are witnessing is the fall of the American Empire. This country will only be a shadow of itself after the great shake-up (NWO events). Europe will also be in very bad shape as well.

We need to all prepare ourselves for some very bad times in the near future. Take the necessary action.

Oh, yes, the Titanic analogy is perfect. The "First class passengers" get on the lifeboats while the poor passengers "third class" are left with no lifeboats. This is exactly what it feels like.

[-] 1 points by libertarianincle (312) from Cleveland, OH 12 years ago

Agreed. The system we once knew is gone. The only hope is to hope it collapses and the new system in it is place is better. That is always the danger of collapsing a system, that the one in its place is worse.

[-] 0 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

Is there any way possible to repair the nation and avoid collapse. Or are we past the point of no return? Just asking.

[-] 1 points by libertarianincle (312) from Cleveland, OH 12 years ago

I don't think people have the will to do what it would take to "repair" things. We have been coddled and controlled for so long, that most of us, even myself included, lack some of the basic skills we would need to survive.

If change were to come it would have to be a generational effort. It would take 50-75 years to enact. What politician around today has the political will to take that lead? (well I know of one...but that is about it) And what person today has the foresight to realize things can't go on and the constitution (not Constitution) to stomach the temporary pain that would be caused by such policies? The answer to that question is "Not nearly enough" :(

[-] 1 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

Things don't look very promising do they.

I would be willing to make some concessions.

If we had a light at the end of the tunnel.

I really don't want greed anymore. I am happy with my daily needs met.

I was raised poor. But we were happy. Now I have lots of stuff. But really not so special to have lots of stuff. It seems the happiness was the trade off.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Women will save America, I am not kidding or trying to insult. We care about workers, women, children, animals, and the environment. We are less likely to be high-pressure salesmen, we have not been abused to produce "numbers" the way men have for so long. You want change, seriously, look for good female candidates. The Enron whistle-blower was female, ok?

[-] 1 points by nichole (525) 12 years ago

Not buying your essentialist argument for a second. Women have proven themselves to be just as bad as the baddest of the bad boys. Look to successful women in Washington and your argument immediately loses its merit.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Ok, look at the jail population. Who is raping and stealing the most, men, or women? Who is societally trained to be criminals, men, or women?

[-] -1 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

Women have continually screwed men over in divorce court. Let's not forget that.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

OMG are you serious?

[-] 0 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

And let's not forget the divorce party afterwards. A woman is not physically mean. But she sure can be seductive.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

You are a misogynist.

[-] -1 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

Hate is a strong word. And does not accurately equate with my thoughts at all.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

The is almost equivalent to voting for Obama because he is black.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

We need to get women to be over 50% of our representation in order to have a clearer picture of what America wants.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Similar anatomy determines good representation?

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Do you think all-male voters are a good thing for women and society? Why should all-male representatives have my interest, my perspective in mind? It is balance I am after.

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Look at Margret Thatcher. Did she have a similar perspective to you? She is a woman. How about Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin?

I would hope there are men in government more similar in "perspective" to you than the women listed above. Someone who works in your interest not because they have the same anatomy as you, but the same principles.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Stop it. I don't want an ALL MALE or DISPROPORTIONATE representation. Nothing to do w Sarah Palin, I hate her.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

I personally would have preferred a Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama, not because she is a female and he is a black male, but because I believe she was the better candidate.

I honestly wouldn't mind if the Congress was disproportionately female, as long as they were the best people for the job.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Many did NOT vote for Obama because he is black.

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

I think you have trouble understanding that identity politics changes nothing. (ie. Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Herman Canne, etc.)

[-] 0 points by Infowar (295) 12 years ago

Let me guess you are a feminist?

[-] -1 points by irsfaggot (171) 12 years ago

Yep, remember what the women did well. Her name was Janet Reno, and slaughtered 100's, and then there is the EVIL one herself HRClinton, ...

To bad this isn't a real women, but its a good point, that women are not the solution anymore than men are.

Hell just look at the circus in EUROPE right now with women-german, versus man-french, who is the biggest sellout and liar to her own people? Why the woman of course.

[-] 2 points by hamalmang (722) from Lebanon, PA 12 years ago

Women in positions of power such as Janet Reno or Hilary Clinton didn't get that far because of their feminine qualities. They adopted the behavior and practices of men.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

I don't agree.

[-] 1 points by hamalmang (722) from Lebanon, PA 12 years ago

I admit I was oversimplifying a complex matter. Or maybe my comment was poorly thought out. I just spent the last week studying human and social capital and the career opportunities of women for a research project and I could prove this is true in some if not many instances. But you have sparked my curiosity. What do you think?

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

In this political climate, here and now, I believe women are the answer. It is time for women to fix USA.

[-] 1 points by FriendlyObserverA (610) 12 years ago

Good bye America ..

"They just talked, and talked and talked"

[-] 1 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

Thanks, ... finally an reply comment by a sane observer, .. the problem is the rats on the Titanic don't have a clue there is no food on the boat, they have hit an iceberg the ship's going down the crew has already fled to Utopia.

The majority of US citizens sit down below on 3rd class seats in the bowels of the ship assuming that tomorrow will be just like yesterday. The poly-tickians steering the ship placed the good ship on auto-pilot long ago and now have inflatable dolls occupying the bridge.

[-] 2 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

as long as there is soil to plant food and I have two hands to build a home, I will survive. those that left the ship with their plunder will go down in history as traitors. and never be allowed to return.

[-] -1 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

Are you kidding my white ass, WTF are you going to grow in Arizona Cactus? I think you like to talk the talk, but your BS about planting crops is BS. How will you survive in Phoenix? By robbing others that have food at gunpoint?

If you want to survive go somewhere tropical, that you can have a garden all year around.

[-] 2 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

You must have never lived here. I have tomatoes growing right now. and family back east. it'll be ok. stop being a drama queen. besides Yuma, Arizona is one of the most productive winter growing places in the USA

[-] 0 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

Phoenix come on the soil is ground up glass, YUMA yeh if you can find real ground-soil. You must have a hot-house something artificial.

I know Arizona well, but 99% of the soil is ground up glass, that when you dig a post hole you need 55gal of water and pick&ax, and maybe after two days your down a foot, you obviously know of a different arizona than the one I know.

[-] 1 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 12 years ago

it is called compost, baby. it has a tendency to turn clay, sand and grass into soil. Remember what that is, the method of turning sand into soil, that Indians taught us when we scurried of the Mayflower. Wow, how far we have slumped as a society. I bet you believe food is grown in a grocery store. just ruffling your feathers with that last sentence.

[-] 0 points by irsfaggot (171) 12 years ago

That's a KEY point, survivors ALWAY's bail before the crisis new IRS banking laws now make it very hard to offshore money. Make sure you have a current passport ready to bail, ... the waiting list now is long. The waiting list to denounce USA citizenship is out 10+ years, cuz people want out so bad and the line is so long.

[-] 1 points by SGSling (104) 12 years ago

Actually not true. I have several passports and investigated renouncing. The 10 years is if you are deemed to be renouncing citizenship for tax reasons. Then you can renounce, but must file tax returns for the next 10 years.

The thing about the IRS, is that it only applies to US nationals or green card holders. Most of us outside the US for the long haul have foreign wives or foreign family we trust. So we bank in somebody else's name. Then once US renounces, sign back over to yourself.

[-] 0 points by irsfaggot (171) 12 years ago

You trust your foreign wife? Now there's an oxymoron, like trusting the US government.

You trust a wife in the USA?

A man can trust 3 things, a dog, an old woman, and good cash in the hand.

Actually if you play the 'hide the salami' from the IRS your in some deep shit. The IRS office here in China now has over 500 agents, and same for most big Asian capital city's.

My experience with 'asian wives' is if you really were to hand over ALL your stash in their name, you would go quicker than a mob henchmen in concrete boots, the only thing that keeps you alive is they know there is more money, but they don't know where :)

Well fuck that is WHY their is a ten year waiting list to renounce, cuz only 2 countrys on the face of the earth require ex-pats to file tax returns USA&Libya. If the IRS even smells that your renouncing for '$$$' reasons your fucked, but in my mind its not about money, its about the fucking tax returns, ... you run away from the USA and they still treat you like a fucking chimp on a leash.

New laws now are going to require that your tax returns are current to renew your passport. Most country's will not let you get a visa if your passport is less than 6 months to expire. Thus in the coming years lots of ex-pats will be fucked. Just another reason why every country on earth has a MAJOR FBI&IRS presence.

FYI - In my case I'm too fucking old to have made any money for years, so I have to nothing to hide, but I ran away years ago from uncle-sam and still feels he has to climb up my ass. It's the same reason that TSA fondles children and grandma to humiliate us. Hell why is it only Libya & USA do this shit? Cuz they're both fucking asshole country's.

[-] 1 points by SGSling (104) 12 years ago

Yeah I would trust the woman I married regardless of passport. Her not being American is a plus though for my expat lifestyle. Though I don't have any experience with "Asian wives" since I married a European :D

Actually I have been Audited twice by the IRS in the past 3 years. Walked away clean. I don't do anything illegal. I file the return in my resident country, pay my taxes to resident country, file US taxes in June. All of the money is on the table, the only difference is that I immediately take the money out of my bank account and don't put it back. No way to tell if I spent it on whores or gold.

The tax returns are BS but its more than US and Libya. I think Israel, Myanmar, and a few others do it. To me it is horribly tacky to be taxing those that live abroad. The problem is that since you can deduct up to 200k from your income, there is no sympathy for those abroad. Even worse, previously free citizen services are now an outrageous sum of money (100$ for extra passport pages???). Even more salt in the wound is the lack of a real voting right. Our demographic is usually well paid and split up over 50 states so we will always get short end of the stick.

You want to know the real kicker? Renouncing citizenship costs 450$. Its like a final "fuck you" from the fed.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 12 years ago

No, history will just look back and see it as just history. Just like the Han Empire, just like the British Empire, just like whatever empire will come next. Empires come and go. The over extension of their preditory nature makes them unsustainable. It takes a lot of energy to exploit others and that energy eventually diminishes against the constant resistence of the exploited and the up and coming contenders for global supremacy.

Yea i agree when a movement starts over money long after the illegal wars, torture, assassinations and police state. I think we have a problem!!! I have not seen an OWS call to end the wars or police state yet, it is shocking. Only calls to stop using it on them.

[-] 0 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

Thanks that really busted my balls' from day one here.

My model of OWS is that when Madoff looted the $50B from NYC's finest the good parents told the kids "YOUR FUCKED", so they plotted how to get their trustafarian lifestyle back... they colluded to rob the 1% by representing the 99%.

The worst thing is the OWS folk never saw a bad cop before 2-3 months ago, before that everything in the USA was good, only when they're iPhone battery went dead and they couldn't buy a new one did they hit the streets.

AmeriKKKa has been fucking people for 50+ years, why now?

The worst is that OBAMA is running the DHS who are using tear-gas, but we're told that OBAMA is the solution and not the problem, so this group can't even demonize the guy that controls the COP-SHOP.

Then OBAMA's PATRON steals $3Billion from the US farmers- CORZINE, and this OWS folk who claim to hate bankers refuse to discuss the link between theft TODAY and OBAMA 2012 election.
