Forum Post: I am appalled that blame can happen in America

How could people of this movement be using hate against a particular group. Have you not all heard of Hitler? I am very disappointed and considering leaving the movement, because people use hate against jews in their messages. This is about economic justice, not hate for one particular group of people. There are members of many races and religions that are directly responsible for the mess we are in and to single out a whole religious group is ignorance at the peak of immoral behavior. We should be united instead of divided. For those of you that do not realize, there are other hate groups such as the KKK that you can assemble with and spew your hate filled garbage. I personally am from a Jewish background, but I work my tail off in a menial job, because I have to in the economy we live. Shame on those that demonize me, because I am as real in the 99% as anyone else.

In fact, we are facing the ultimate form of discrimination from the top 1% and that is what we are fighting. I will fight against anyone in the top 1% that is guilty of doing this to all Americans and all people in the world.

This forum is open to posts by anyone who enters in a small amount of information. There are some on here who honestly have the good of the movement, and of the US in their hearts, and are trying to discuss issues, and come up with useful ideas. Others have legitimate questions about the movement.

And then there are the trolls, whose sole purpose in coming here is to spread dissent, or engage their 14 year old minds in intellectual vandalism

I love and respect what the movement is doing, but I feel that we need to be bigger as a movement and stand for equality and root out the hate. Free speech is great, but responsibility is even better. I think that the leaders of this movement need to really understand that by condemning hate groups, they are promoting equality for the 99%.

There may be a few who have opinions that lean in the direction of bigotry. That is a fact of life, especially when there is a disparate group gathered together. I have yet to see a widespread tolerance of that sort of thinking though, nor do I think that will be the case. Believe me, I am the first one to stick their nose in, and put a stop to such nonsense, as it has no place in polite society.

The whole point of the openness will allow these people to act, but the nature of the movement also allows them to change. Unless they are being paid to do it just disrupt forums like this, and get people like you to quit.

these people have infiltrated this forum and are not part of the movement. they aren't the only ones on the forum trying to cause trouble. ignore them, they're trying to sow discontent and give the movement a bad image. you are very welcome here!

Thank you for re-affirming my faith in humanity. Although it is a start that people like yourself stand up for tolerance, I think we need the movement leadership to step up to the plate and condemn this activity.

There is no real #OWS leadership. That means all of us who mean well in the movement, which is the majority, must work hard and do our part to ensure respect and equality in our ranks. It also means no single leader can bring the whole movement in a bad direction. Pros and cons.

Though the General Assembly could vote on a motion to "officially" repudiate all racist and hate speech.

In any case, thanks for sticking it out. Hold to your courage and your hope, we all have to be in this together.

I think people ignoring them at this time, largely, is because these things are designed to distract and disrupt. I would not take any ignoring of these people as an act of accepting what they are saying.

There are a lot Of trolls who comment on here so just because they post here don't mean they are representatives of the movement

Discrimination is not tolerated within the movement. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about, I have not seen anyone blaming the Jewish community for any of this. Well, that's not true. There will always be a handful of ignorant people in any movement, and it's our job to educate them.

There are so many threads in this forum holding hate against Jews. This is put in there to divide us, because we all know one thing about the way we operate. In fact, this movement is about the 99%, and just because there are some Jews at the top, we need to realize that there are also members of all religious groups putting the attack in place on all of us. I believe that as the framers of this country have stated, religious beliefs of all denomination have no place in politics, but if you read through all the threads, there are so many hate threads towards any group. I am really ashamed of that. What I take pride in is the desire of humanity in our country to take steps to insure that all people live in equality. In fact, we are all in this movement because of economic discrimination put on us by the top 1%.

I'd go even further. Suppose every single one of those responsible were in fact jews (which is a paranoid fantasy). It would still be irrelevent : their crime would not be in the fact of being jew, but in their selfishness, irresponsability and participation in an unfair system. Even then, we should not hate them as jews, but as oppressors, and oppressors of some who also are jew. And perhaps while we fight them, we should not hate them as such either, but hate the corrupt system itself.

We have to remember at all times that the division in groups and pitting against one another of the people is the greatest tactic used to preserve the broken status quo.

The ironic thing is, if those few Jews at the top actually practiced their faith and followed the ten commandments, none of this would be happening right now. The fact is, religion has very little to do with anything and is only used by those who would see us divided and fighting amongst ourselves. The good news is, this movement is about more than just economic equality. It's about a greater social consciousness that will eventually spread to every human being on the planet.
