Forum Post: Huh....No Duck Dynasty Post?

I think the whole dust up over the DD dude provides an opportunity to talk about freedom of speech these days in the USA. Does the 1st amendment still apply to all? Does anyone still feel like they might disagree, but are still willing to defend?

I think it provides an opportunity to talk about how fucked up Bible thumping, racist, bigot, Right-Wing-Conservative Capitalists are and how even such a dumb-ass fake "reality" show like Duck Dynasty with such a huge fan base can sway public opinion into supporting and adopting a conservative pro-capitalists mindset against the fan/viewers own best interests (like Stockholm Syndrome) by portraying the cast as comical and likeable characters. FOX News (and the Mainstream Media in general) is way more influential and effective in swaying public opinion against viewers own best interests, but a show like Duck Dynasty accomplishes the same thing basically, it's like putting lipstick on a pig, it presents the exploiters of Capitalism and wage-slavery as fun, likeable characters, subliminally making Capitalism itself more likeable and accepted.

Forum Post: For someone repulsed so much by the penetration of men’s anuses, Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson sure does... http://occupywallst.org/forum/for-someone-repulsed-so-much-by-the-penetration-of/

I think if Phil Robertson really wanted to do something for God and country he could revolutionize his Duck Commander business into a worker-owned Co-operative ("co-op") and use the popularity of his show to help set a great example for the rest of the country. If there is one redeeming quality of the show it is their emphasis on family, if only he could extend that solidarity to his workers and to the rest of the world. So far the show makes it look like only 6 workers (his family and friends) are doing all of the grunt work of the business, knowing damn well that's impossible, even if all they produced was duck-calls. But the Duck Commander/Duck Dynasty brand is not just about duck-calls, because of their fan-base and the popularity of their show they can now put their faces on anything and everything and sell it for mad profit throughout the entire country --and they do! Every Walmart Supercenter and Bass-Pro Shop throughout the entire country is packed full of their merchandise and selling like hotcakes, the Duck Dynasty business is booming! -Jack! lol

And I can promise you this, the work sure as hell ain't gettin done by just 5 bearded family and friends sittin in a room 9-5 every day making duck-calls, like the show portrays.

Always preaching tolerance until someone beliefs contradict what you believe, what he said was not homophobic.

Here's a nugget from this hick:

"Check out these nuggets: "Women with women. Men with men. They committed indecent acts with one another. And they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. They're full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant God haters. They are heartless. They are faithless. They are senseless. They are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil." -- Speaking at the 2010 Wild Game Supper in Pottstown, Pa.

People can say what they want, all good. Doesn't mean others cant tell them they are intolerant shitheads afterwards though.

They're full of murder,

the military could use 'em

[-] -1 points by Dan123 (7) 10 years ago

Except he is not an intolerant shithead, is it homophobic to not be into anal sex with another guy, the co apron to bestiality was taken way out of context, read what sundae posted just below.

I'm reading what was quoted just above. You can defend the right to free speech all you want, just don't complain when people say he's an asshole.

And it's starting to look like the people are supporting the guy. If reading the comments in a number of news sites are any indication, and the two petitions telling the network to bring him back is over 100K signatures, and two of the show sponsors have publicly stated they support the guy. I have to conclude this is turning out to be like the Chic-fil-a debacle.. It appears the masses think the guy is being treated unfairly and are voting to boycot the network.

[-] -2 points by AlwaysIntoSomething (42) 10 years ago

"The masses"... the fact that A) this is a show, and B) the show has good ratings... pretty much tells the whole story.

Indeed. People need to read the entirety of his interview. Is it homophobic to not be into anal sex? The bestiality comparison making headlines is BS taken out of context. You could just as easily say he compared greed to bestiality. I love it. He may have opned the way for an overdue national conversation. I suspect there are more people that have lost their insurance lately than are homosexual wanting to be married in this country!!

He's also now been branded a racist too (yawn) over his recollection of 50's/60's Bumfuck LA where most everyone (black/white) lived dirt poor. All those Southern Democrats that ran the KKK were a million miles away.

Wow, That’s the most arrogant and condescending post I’ve read in a while. If you don’t like the show then don’t watch it. I don’t watch it. But to call the people who do watch it “fucked up Bible thumping, racist, bigot, Right-Wing-Conservative Capitalists” is worse than what the guy said. So, you think the common people are dumb hicks. That speaks worse for you than them.

Think about it, the guy is a Christian, Louisiana red neck, and proud of it. He also built a multi-million dollar company based on those qualities. I’ve heard, but can’t confirm that he has an MBA.

As I said, he is getting his monies' worth out of the 1st amendment. All I got was 4 down votes for that accurate observation. Gotta luv the left. I say "left" cuz there is nuthin "liberal" OR "progressive" about Orwell's worse nightmare

Stick around , soapie.

Might find some suds you can handle.

The whole DD thing is to cover the NDAA and almost 1 Trillion dollars being dedicated to the DOD. Or to cover the federal judge who made some eye raising statements about NSA.

Anytime dumb shit like this makes a national run, if its a socially dividing statement made by someone no one has heard of, its pure cover.

Its really that easy for them to control the media. Tell the three fav media companies to run it, the rest fall in line, and we are now distracted again.

Easier than a cat with a laser.

You got that right.
