it isn't how much i want, for me that is. what i want is higher wages. period. if your 40 hour per week employee cannot cover their own healthcare, taxes, house payment, and new car every 5 years, you are a deadbeat employer. i know, OUTRAGEOUS! well, do it by yourself then big shot. then there is the, "businesses will go under if they had to pay that". oh well. your business can be replaced by the next entrepreneur with better performance much the same way an employee can be replaced. don't think so, tell that to those eager vendors you buy from. if you go out of biz and they have to sell to the biz that took your place, i don't think they give a damn. if an industry cannot operate under such a structure, they are obviously an outdated industry and should make way for innovation(more jobs). then i want immigration fixed so people can not just work here, but move here, spend there money here, stop being exploited here, instead of shipping their minuscule wages to other countries.

How socialist of you. :)

Social democracies in Europe have high standards of living, excellent social support systems, well maintained infrastructures and taxes that are often lower than those in the US if you factor in state, local and sales taxes and the cost of private health insurance.

These countries are also home to some of the happiest people on the planet.

[-] 1 points by Confusedoldguy (260) 12 years ago

Geez, what part of the news have you not been watching? Portugal, Ireland, Italy Greece...Europe is coming apart at the seams, because they can't afford the generous social programs that you admire so much, and when the government tries to dial it back, the people go ballistic because they can't imagine living without alll those nice benefits. Complete dependence on the government...not very pretty.

[-] 1 points by nucleus (3291) 12 years ago

Ever hear of Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden?

The collapse of the Eurozone isn't due to social market economies, it is due to derivatives and credit default swaps hedging sovereign economies. Why do you think the former VP of the European Central Bank was installed as PM in Greece?

What Today's Global Fed-Funded Bailout Means

[-] 1 points by Confusedoldguy (260) 12 years ago

But when the ebb and flow of economics force those countries to cut back on entitlement programs the people had become dependent upon, the masses rise up and the country grinds to a halt, forcing healthier economies to bail them out, putting strain on those economies. It's all one big mess, made messier by the assumption that government is supposed to provide lots of stuff to the average person. Like the old saying goes, sooner or later, you run out of other people's money.

[-] 1 points by nucleus (3291) 12 years ago

"sooner or later, you run out of other people's money"

What do you think the bailouts were for? The banks ran out of other people's money. Many of them are Federal Reserve components, and they ran out of OUR money, not because we blew it all on social programs, but because of multi-trillion dollar wars and greedy investment bankers sucking the wealth out of everything they can. Now they have run out of commodities and are hedging sovereign economies around the globe.

Time to WAKE UP and turn off Limbaugh.

Fed’s $16 Trillion Dollar Secret Slush Fund Props Up Our Way Of Life

[-] 1 points by OWSWhat (66) 12 years ago

If everything is so rosy there then why did we just have to bail you out??

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 12 years ago

was it? oops :P

[-] 1 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 12 years ago

Though we may have fooled ourselves to believe all living humans equal, with but that one word prefixed to a wage; our good, wise lawmakers expediently and haughtily taught us our place; reclassifying us Minimum Humans.

[-] 1 points by ithink (761) from York, PA 12 years ago

"your business can be replaced by the next entrepreneur with better performance much the same way an employee can be replaced".. As consumers in this country, we not only have the power to do this, we have the responsibility. We have the power and responsibility through our consumerism to make the world a better place for everyone. By our purchasing power, we make the rules.

[-] 1 points by kingscrosssection (314) 12 years ago

This is exactly how people businesses have come and gone over the years except for the consumerism bit. People buy what's cheapest. Therefore of I come along and can give you cheaper gas but keep the profit margin the same I can and will sell the gas cheaper than the other guy. Its how America works.

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 12 years ago

When I was a kid the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was for the kids with balloons like Superman, Mighty Mouse, Rocky & Bullwinkle and Mickey Mouse

This year I saw the Aflac Goose, and the Pillsbury Dough boy balloons Corporations not Cartoons, I guess Corporate needs to indoctrinate them younger now days huh ? So to answer the original post about

(Q) how much $$$$ to stop OWS?

(A) There is no amount of money...none ...Democracy,Equality & Fairness are not for SALE.............

You must have us confused with Washington Politicians, they obviously had a number in mind.....which you met,and is why were here to begin with

What difference is it whether the glass is only half full of shit or totally full, you still have to empty it completely and clean it well, before you dare to fill it with a tasty beverage

[-] 3 points by LSN45 (535) 12 years ago

Good point. It's all marketing now unfortunately. These days I hear Americans referred to a "consumers" more than citizens - it makes me worry for our country.

We are not for sale. Sorry !

[-] 2 points by aeturnus (231) from Robbinsville, NC 12 years ago

No money in the world is going to stop OWS. If OWS stops for some reason, it is going to be because people thought it was ineffective. We aren't politicians. We can't be bribed, extorted, or blackmailed.

Every OWS is a leader. For you to satisfy them means to give up your greed and join the 99%. The vision of the 99% is to grow and include you.

[-] 1 points by screwtheman (122) 12 years ago

We will quit for 5 dollars or a big mac.

[-] 1 points by smartenough (42) 12 years ago

Your offer reflects fear of 1% upon OWS!

How much is your price if I want to buy you as a slave?

How about the price of all humanity as a slave?

[-] 1 points by gample (3) from New York, NY 12 years ago

Where are you man? Did somebody get your tender ?

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 12 years ago

A acre of land with a house given to every citizen of the United States to start. We do not want your money since it will be worthless soon but us having outright owned property is a difference story.

[-] 1 points by Edgewaters (912) 12 years ago

I think everyone's ready to just write off everything that's already been stolen, if it stops here and now. That's how much.

[-] 1 points by din365 (36) 12 years ago

well..seeing how you asked -No more bailouts or taking OUR money -Bring jobs home, and stop sending them to some shitty third world country -Decent wages

[-] 1 points by Spankysmojo (849) 12 years ago

Everything that was stolen and laws enacted to keep it from happening again.

[-] 1 points by poltergist22 (159) 12 years ago

How about this..... everyone pays and we cure this www.nationalday911.org

[-] 1 points by Seer (10) 12 years ago

Instead of offering money to those who protest, STOP offering money to politicians, who are the root and cause. They make the laws and the loopholes, and after a long career in politics, they end up as "employees" for the beneficial companies their lawmaking helped... My answer... Stop spending money on politicians...

By the way, If you want to spend money... Find a good disaster relief charity, do some good...

I find our elected officials incompetent to govern. They need some incentive that will mean something to them instead of putting funds at risk that will cause harm to those persons and institutions who can least afford such loss. I suggest that these officials’ pay and/or benefits be cut if and/or when they fail to do their job. As it is, party “a” threatens to harm parties “”d” through “z” if parties “b” and “c” can’t come to an agreement. It makes no sense whatsoever to threaten Congress with cuts that will not have any impact on them directly. Our Constitution establishes the type of government we are to have. We do not need to establish any “sub” groups within these institutions. They are all responsible collectively to govern and if/when they fail to do so they are all liable collectively. The “carrot and stick” method only works when the carrot or stick is guaranteed to the same one. These officials have received their carrot upon being elected as they shall receive full pay and full benefits for the rest of their life even if they only serve one term. I say put all options “on the table” including their lifetime pay and benefits. I’m of the position that such a “stick” would cause these officials to get their head out of the clouds and their feet on the ground.

[-] 0 points by whitemailer (11) 12 years ago

Everybody say that at the begin, but at the end of bargaining they are agreeing.

Go ahead.

[-] -1 points by whitemailer (11) 12 years ago

This message is not for you greedy idiot. It is for those who understand the message.

[-] 0 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

pay me I say . . .

[-] 0 points by ithink (761) from York, PA 12 years ago

To these people who are ready to pay, I, as an individual of the American people say: Are you a fraudulent banker, a businessman with questionable practices, are you paying congress to deny their duty to the American people? Then it is time for you to find a moral ally who can help you make good decisions. Seek good and proper council O' high and mighty ones. For, the cost to repair your sanity, your good name, and stature will be much less if you take it upon yourself to immediately mend your wrongdoings. Be it known, that anything less than full reparation will result in harsh and dire consequences.

[-] -1 points by 53percenter (125) 12 years ago

They want all of it.

[-] 0 points by generalspok (4) 12 years ago

For me it is enough $ 5,000,000 only.

[-] 0 points by 53percenter (125) 12 years ago

That would make you a 1%-er and you would then become an OWS target.
