Forum Post: How Does Divide and Conquer Work

As I judge most of what is going on today with political personas at all levels of all parties currently in power, and societal moves that are the result, many tend to think I am either ungrateful or missing the big picture, because in any given situation things could possibly be worse.

I cannot think of a more pathetic mindset for a populace than constant gratitude to those in power, whom are suppose to be working for US THE PEOPLE, than to be in a semi-worshiping state of forgiveness, because...

"things could be worse".

This is an absolutely pathetic outlook on life in general, ran by fear and a constant mindset of attacking and defending, and in no way shape or form produces great results on a regular basis.

This isn't just true in politics, it's true in most everything.

We should always be grateful, and should not forget just how bad things can be. But it needs to be balanced by an outlook of greatness that is much larger than what is currently the mass opinion we hold.

Good post. The "divide and conquer" strategy is used on Occupy groups quite regularly by people who want to maintain the status quo.
