Dear friends,

I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, a
new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your
name to mine? If this petition gets 25,000 signatures by December 09, 2011,
the White House will review it and respond!

We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama
Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets
enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

Here's some more information about this petition:

Create more access to housing using the subsidy program. There is not enough
participation by rental properties. People living on Social Security and SS Disability have very little available
housing oportunities. The housing that currently participates or is approved
for subsidy is very limited. You have to go on waiting lists averaging
several years waiting and hope to get notified of an opening prior to being
taken off of a waiting list. We need more properties available today

Perhaps they are incapable of solving problems? Their track record proves this over and over again. Perhaps we should look within ourselves. Perhaps we should create a new system by the people, for the people. Politicians will tell you one thing and do another. This movement is about replacing their points of power and giving it back to the people.

I don't think that we need to recreate just yet. But I do believe that we all need to take whatever action is available to us "now" to reclaim our government and get it on the job.

I had a look at some of those petitions. I see signatures in the 100,000 range and then read a white house response completely opposite of the petition that was signed. They are clueless to everyday issues.

Their systems is hierarchy in structure meaning the Clown at the top has final call.

Hello! 100,000 votes, that petition should have already been passed and implemented.

This is exactly why we need to continue with every tool available. There are also petitions to take the petitions submitted seriously. The more that they openly fail to serve the more legitimate legal cause we have to make change.

This other site below is also new. I believe that it could be a tool to begin knocking down the doors, as the site claims to collect and collate issues placing numbers on them and then lobby's directly to the governmental body (s) directly responsible.

Also don't give up on the petition site either ( at least not yet ) as it is also relatively new and may need some time before it generates the attention it deserves.

We must let go of the old ways and replace them with the new. We the people should not have to appeal or appease to others for our voices to be heard. We can speak directly to the universe. This is happening right now within our hearts.

Again. All you are saying is "do something about this". You cite no statistics from credible sources to support the fact that there is a problem, and you don't even provide a small list of possible solutions. Heck, you're basically saying to sign something stating that I think there "might" be a problem. Ok fine, you think there's a problem................so?

This is a perfect example of the public education this country is turning out.

Why should you need to verify the names. If you go through the account set-up process ( which you need to to sign the petition) you will see your name appear along side the others that have already signed-up. The only one who needs to verify the names is the petition recipient.

The social security system is a joke. How can people survive on $1000 month? Salaries for federal officials is $200,000 $400,000 a year. What exactly do they do again? Talk about a slap in the face.

Disabled with a child well under age 18= $747 per month. You can not live on that. I live very simply and can barely afford rent/electric. If I was able to get a job (which I am not) I would actually have to have two- one to make up the monthly shortfall and another to pay for childcare should I not be able to find a job between the hours of 9am and 3pm (which would include between those hours travel time there and back) with all weekends, school holidays, vacations, sick days off (when my child is ill)... you see where I'm going with this. I think it's terribly wrong and would be out on the street if it weren't for the help given from family, but sadly, while I'm appreciative of any help, it runs short now as they are also having to tighten their belts. This month will be the first time I am actually having utilities shut off because I can't afford to pay them. But social services says I make "too much" and am not elegible for any help. How do you explain to a 7 year old that his birthday will be celebrated in the dark? I'm sure many of you will respond that I'm the problem and a drain on the system, you're paying for my laziness, etc. Walk a mile in my shoes. Even after sustaining an injury that qualified me for permanent disability, I still managed to work two days a week over 8 hours. Not much, but it really helped. But what happened? Childcare. Even with being able to work out assistance from the YMCA, I had to add another shift to pay for preschool. I pushed through one year doing that, each doctor visit ending with a strong recommendation to stop working or face the consequences. Turned out my son needed a second year in preschool, thus me pushing through another year with 12 hours of work a week (not a lot, I know). Now, he's in second grade and I can barely walk. I guess I should be thankful, at least we have a roof over our head, and hopefully we can keep the lights on somehow.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I believe if you are disabled it may be possible to get a waiver to prevent a shut off of your utilities. It may vary from state to state. You could try a google search with "[your state name] disabiIity utilities shut off"
