This was originally posted in the Research Forum but apparently very few people actually do research or their not aware it's there. I personally feel knowledge is power and I can make better decisions when I'm informed. For example; I've read about unions taking dues and putting them into political campaigns. I can't speak for all unions, but I can say that my union requires MY authorization to take my money for polictical activities.
That said here's the original post:
I do believe that the Occupy Movement has the right idea and an enormous amount of energy and desire to get something done. A little study of history over the last couple of hundred years would go a long way in education of the way to get to the goal.
First what are the goals and how has the 99% of the past tried to obtain these goals. One thing I'm sure of is the goals are not any different now then they were 100 years ago. For example equal pay for men and women doing the same job. Resolution passed back in the late 1800's by AFL sought just that.
What do you know about America's top 100 corporations declaring war on America's Trade Unions? What were and are the weapons they are using to crush trade unions. Why do they want to?
I have since 1974 lived, ate and breathed trade unionism and I can tell you, you're not dealing with "nice" people. They are going to stop at nothing to stop the movement. Best case senerio is it just fizzles out, worst case, brute force(as I see already being used).
I propose a chronology of history, stories told by those who have already been out there in the trenches and know what has failed and what has worked. It's been over forty years since the 1% you speak of launched their first attacks on the American Work Force and now I see those attacks going global. Shame on them.
If we want to move forward we MUST look back so as to not repeat yet anonther failure.

Interesting choice, my Great Grand Father was a member of The United Mine Workers, he was unfortunately killed in a mining accident at the Von Storch mine in Sranton,Pa. in December of 1900.
I might also add that laws were put in place to prevent actions from being taken. John L. Lewis was the first ever that had Taft-Hartly applied to his union and he was forced to order his people back to work, which he did, with a wink.
Here's anonther good link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Mine_Workers_of_America
History is the key- every bit of it is here in a nutshell. Skip Carlin-while he's always right-we need focus to the facts NOW.
