I've been thinking a lot lately about Occupy Wall Street, their link with unemployment, and the government's apparent disregard for the entire movement. Why the hell isn't the DC Unemployment office out there with a booth, trying to help some of these people with nowhere to go? Isn't that their purpose? Really, this is a great opportunity for them to connect with people.

Then, upon further inspection, I discovered that most of the states have shitastic unemployment department websites. Information is far from transparent, and most are catered towards calling endless phone numbers or in mumbo-jumbo about benefits. The purpose of these sites should be to help people find employment! Yet, all I see for businesses is a link to tax information. Why not upload the resume of everyone who walks in the door for recruiters and hiring managers to find, or at the very least let them post jobs in the area?

These bureaucratic offices could run on way less money and be far more efficient. I mean seriously I made better websites when I was 13 on Geocities. Step it up, people! Let's not make it harder to find good work than it already is.

The way the unemployed are treated in this country is pathetic.

Do you mean getting a check for 99 weeks to sit home on their asses if they so choose?
