and other hacker groups will ensure that the Govt takes control of the Internet. These brilliant scholars will bring about the next level of censorship regarding the net.

Good job guys. You clearly are our heroes.

The government needs no such excuse. As long as you can hand some kind of electronic media to your friend and it could contain a book, a song, a movie, and as long as the government continues to subscribe to the unworkable model of copyright and artificial scarcity, the government will have a very well paid lobby telling them that they need to tap every communication, search every disk, spy on every computer, without exception. Not that they need much convincing to want to do that!

They will use such groups as an excuse for legislation. I am not arguing that they are not already doing such things behind the scenes.

The more this group tries to act like it has a big dick, the more chance we will see laws enacted. It might be understandable if these groups actually had any teeth, but they don't. They are ineffective at best.

Having the ability to resist and exercising it is pivotal to the movement. Anon has made available resources that we would otherwise not have to in order to create a multi-front crisis for those who sit at the top.

The free sharing of knowledge is a fundamental human right, and censorship is its abrogation-- and these are the guys who strip the censors of their dignity. The DDoS attacks are the equivalent of virtual sit-ins-- negative publicity and directly causing the loss of revenue for the duration. Their willingness to put themselves at risk for us should not go unforgotten.

Anon has done nothing but acted in good faith, and at the very least deserves mutual respect.

Agreed. They've made some mistakes but for the most part are on the side of what's right. I used to be against them when I first heard of them this summer but changed my mind when I learned more about them. These other posters are wrong. The issues of censorship have been brought about by the movie and recording industry under the guise of copyright infringement. They tried to pull the same thing years ago when cassettes (music) and videotape (movies) first came out. Besides, censorship would have little or no effect on what Anon does.

They don't do a damn thing. Nothing. Nada. A complete waste other than bringing in the authorities.
