Forum Post: Government Resignations Now

We know what the problem is, let us fix it and move forward together.

When you look at a republican or democrat, congress or FDA official, Judges and Justice Department you see criminals.

Our corruption dates back decades to when those who in trying to preserve slavery had to find new ways to preserve it and so created an advanced form of slavery.

only two components were required -- the illusion of freedom and choice and the taking away of the freedom to live off the land.

How else would you get a person to submit themselves to mind numbing or degrading work unless you oppress them into it.

our current system is rooted in corruption and every attempt in preserving it involves manipulating human thought and turning people against one another.

In America the population has been transformed in two major voting groups but they only have one choice.

They had been distracted up until now with television and American culture which prospered through the oppression of other nations.

Americans allowed themselves to be fooled into using their military and economic dominance to seize resources of other nations and create expanding markets for American profiteers.

Now that technology, competition and conscience have evolved Americans themselves are realizing that they cannot sustain themselves under their current system of government.

Our government officials have allowed private profits and personal benefits to influence decisions that affect the health and well-being of people all over the planet, not just in America... how much longer will we allow them to rule over us??

Occupy Washington and demand that all government officials resign their posts.

We will setup new online elections with a verification system that will allow us to see our votes after we cast them, put our new officials in office and work toward rebuilding our country and our world.

Use the six degrees of separation concept to spread the word. We don't need to ask anyone to resign. We (THE PEOPLE) can recall them right now.

(See below)

Recall Main article: California gubernatorial recall election, 2003

In July 2003, a sufficient number of citizen signatures were collected for a recall election. The initial drive for the recall was fueled by funds from the personal fortune of U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican who originally hoped to replace Davis himself. The 2003 California recall special election was the goal of the "Dump Davis" campaign, and constituted the first gubernatorial recall in Californian history, and only the second in U.S. history.

Early in the recall election, Davis called the recall election an “insult” to the eight million voters who had voted in the 2002 gubernatorial election.[82] The Davis campaign tried to run against the recall Yes/No vote instead of against the candidates that were trying to replace him.[22] Davis tried to depict the recall as a $66 million waste of money that could allow a candidate with a very small percentage of the vote to become Governor—potentially someone who was very liberal or conservative.[22] There are no primaries in a recall election. Davis tried to run “outside the recall circus” and to make himself appear gubernatorial and hard at work for California, who had made improvements to education and healthcare.[22][83] Early August polls showed that over 50% supported the recall.[22]

In September 2003, Davis conceded that he had lost touch with the voters and he was trying to correct that with numerous townhall meetings.[84] Poll numbers in September showed a 3% drop in the number of California voters who were planning to vote yes on the recall.[85] According to some analysts and campaign aides, Davis's town hall meetings and conversations with voters were softening his image.[85] Many political insiders remarked that Davis had made several comebacks and that he should not be counted out of the race despite poll numbers that showed over 50% planning to vote yes on the recall.[6][22][85] Headlines of Gray Davis's defeat in UC Berkeley's newspaper, the Daily Californian. The paper's headlines read "Davis Terminated", a reference to one of then governor-elect Arnold Scharzenegger's movie characters, The Terminator.

During the recall, Davis blamed some of the state's problems on his predecessor Pete Wilson.[86] Davis claimed that he would have rather raised taxes on the upper tax brackets instead of restoring vehicle registration fees and college student tuition.[86]

Davis called the recall a right-wing effort to rewrite history after losing the fall election last year.[86] In a major 19 minute campaign address that was broadcast statewide, Davis said the recall was a "right-wing power grab" by Republicans and he blamed Republicans in the legislature and in Washington for many of the state's problems while at the same time he tried to take some of the responsibility for the state's problems.[87] “ "It's like the Oakland Raiders saying to Tampa Bay, 'We know you beat us, but we want to play the Super Bowl again,"' said Davis about the recall.[86] ”

On October 7, 2003, Davis was recalled with 55.4% of the votes in favor of the recall, and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected to replace him as governor. The Bay Area and Los Angeles County were the only regions in California to vote no on the recall. San Francisco rejected the recall by a 4 to 1 ratio.[88] Davis joined Lynn Frazier of North Dakota, who was ousted in 1921, as the only governors in American history to be recalled.[88]

On the night of the recall, Davis conceded defeat and thanked California for having elected him in 5 statewide elections. Davis mentioned what he defined as the accomplishments of his administration such as improvements in education, environmental protection, and health insurance for children.[89] Davis said he would help Schwarzenegger in the transition and he later urged his staff to do the same.

You did a great job of showing the problem. I am not real sure your solution is do-able or what we need

I hope you don’t mind if I cut and paste some of your opinion of the problem.

the first real good post i saw here. yes if you want to change some thing you have to occupy the the congress and other political institutions. there gathering may serve a temporary solution but not the permanent. so comrade build a party and stand in election. for the people who thinks capitalism is the best i got some info about Cuba. every people there have same wages and they declare that providing employment is the duty of state and if the state cant provide a job then all the unemployed people are eligible for a wage. even in Libya the education was free. in our country(india) also basic education is free. so my capitalist friends please stop posting lies .

thank you. together we already occupy the world my friend. I hope to meet you in a truly democratic and peaceful world one day.

My one and only job in life is to work toward uniting the world and bringing about peace and an advanced civilization that puts people before consumption and profit.

I do not believe anyone that says we cannot do it, I have faith only in us.

Great idea. How many have resigned so far?

OWS is creating problems and trying to upset a country founded on capitalism. in every society there are classes no matter what kind of society it is, communist, capitalist, fascist, whatever. There will always be a high, middle, and low class, you cannot change that. There is no way for a country to work the way it should with everyone on the same playing field. it just is not possible. so to all you OWS people out there, your cause might be just in your mind and sound good on paper but in the real world, it is not possible. You are just creating a stage on which you make noise and yell at the government that allows you to protest and try to destroy the country that gave you the rights to try and destroy it. be thankful you live in a country as good as this one, or go to Somalia or Iraq or North Korea and try to protest there about big business and see how it goes.....

[-] 1 points by blocade (81) 12 years ago

pretty sure you are just going by what was put on tv and print and handed to you. who runs information around here? lol - so name me a few of your somalian, iraqi or north korean friends... until you can come back with people from those places say "we will never work toward world peace" you're just another broken tool.

[-] 1 points by OWSisawaste (133) 12 years ago

people of those countries have tried to "work towards peace" and have failed, but thats not my point....the point is that the only reason you people have the ability to riot and protest and set fires os because of this great nation.

So perfection has been achieved ....for some? I guess they other folks don't think it's quite as perfect as you do.

The Declaration says, "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Right now we are debating whether the current situation of abuses of power rise to the the level described. Welcome to the debate.

no they dont.....flat out.....you people are just making a big deal because you finally have something to do with your lives....America is a working country and it works better than any other country in the world

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 12 years ago

There are a lot of people who, from direct personal experience, and from an understanding of econometric data, from observing that there is a disconnect from the will of the majority of the people and what our government has done that it isn't working well for them and it isn't working well for others. Some may be satisfied but you can directly observe that many others are not. Surely you would not want to punish victims?

I wouldn't put others down about how they are pursuing their lives without having any facts about them. It isn't fair. They may well be just as good as you think you are. They also may have more compassion than you do, as well. You might be surprised at how exemplary are some of the lives of the people you are criticising. A survey was done of the people at OWS Wall Street which found that they are just about like the whole country by age, education. employment etc.

So, "you people" may not mean what you think it does. I think you are just like us, with a little different world view.

I am nothing like you....I am a red blooded American who lives for the American dream and that wants to see America the way it was when Teddy Roosevelt ran it....powerful, respected, and grand.....America needs a good strong leader not some hippies that want socialism and communism...

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 12 years ago

Emiliano Zapata, in the movie Viva Zapata, says, "A weak people need a strong leader. A strong people don't need a leader." You know he had a point. Most Americans have red blood. I started with nothing or a little less. Started some companies. Some made it. Some failed. I have been worth seven figures. Would have been worth nine, after winning a case against a F500 company. They bought the judge, after the jury decided in my favor and stole my patents.

I'm not bitter.Still comfortable. I just want a game with rules that make it fair for my grandchildren, and for you. Justice shouldn't be for sale.

I am older but I never was a hippie and we might not be as different as you think. Teddy wasn't as pure as you might think, either. "Might makes right" isn't so durable. Ended up protecting a lot that was defenseless. Looking out for those unable to protect themselves isn't weakness. Arrogance and contempt leave a bad smell that won't wash out..

You seem to have a soft spot for the military. Trivia: My ancestor signed the authorization for the first militias in 1636. And he lead one of the first 13 militias in what was the first war in North America against native Americans, that wasn't Spanish. There has been family in about every one since. We've had Medal of Honor winners and traitors. Generals and privates. Too many wars.

[-] 1 points by OWSisawaste (133) 12 years ago

well war will never leave and for that we need soldiers that are not soft and that will fight any enemy of America......... the judge thing does suck....but the only way to change that is to have people run for those positions and wash out the bad ones....not try and change them.....the more you fight the more they dont change

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 12 years ago

We have wasted so many soldiers fighting people who are not the enemy while sapping our real strength which is economic, with bloated contractors, rogue mercenaries, outsourced intelligence and the Defense Department admits they can't even balance their books. Sad

Can't run if you're not bought, that is the crux of the problem. Money rigs every outcome. Gotta get the money out. Parties are obsolete, campaigns are a facade, the real power is the anonymous propaganda machine called the 527. And super 527's thanks to bought judges at the highest level. How do we get rid of them? Got two with obvious conflicts of interests and nobody even mentions them. That is what this should be about It isn't Get the money out of politics. It is get the money out of government, which includes the judiciary. An amendment fixes the law but it doesn't fix the judges, who will do a little more legislation from the bench again to bring the money back. Judicial activism for you, bad. Judicial activism for me, good.

Even if we do fix it, I'm not getting out of here alive.
