This, from a forum I visit.

Guy that wrote it is 27 years old.

(quote) "A sociopathic materialism has cast a morbid pall over our lands, and it is rotting our civilisation from within. All of us are paying a heavy price. And yet we argue who is responsible for this misfortune. Some say it's the 'banksters' on Wall Street and the politicians on Capitol Hill. Some blame advertising and the mass media. Some claim that there are plenty of con artists, hackers, spammers and other ne'er-do-wells who obtain joy from the misfortunes and ignorance of other people.

Nay, I tell you this. If you want to know who is responsible for creating and perpetuating this blight on our culture, you need only look into a mirror. You and I are just as guilty of letting this sociopathic materialism fester as those miscreants. And inasmuch as we are the problem, so we can be the solution. It is time we ponder intrinsic values, ethics, and virtues instead of attempting to accumulate stuff. It is time we exalt reason, respect for others, and common-sense above money, fame, popularity, and trinkets." (unquote)

Thanks for sharing this comment with us

In order for anything to get better, we have to look for the truth, even though that may be uncomfortable

And the truth is, most of us here are culpable for having bought into this corrupt system, and for having let it come this far

It's time we all take some time for self-reflection, and work on our own metamorphosis

I've started some time ago to take time to start small conversations or joke with people I meet in my daily life

I also compliment people for all sorts of reasons...new hair-do....loss of weight.., great service,.graduating college, etc.

I know it isn't much, but it's a start

Positivity is always a welcome change.

Switching off the television is also an action that is within everyone's scope.

Keeping the plebs indebted, and busy repaying debt, is part of the ruse.

Driving wedges between parents and their children is another.

Capitalism is what needs a rethink. And the mechanisms that allow corporations to literally control their working environment, so they can operate basically with impunity.

I agree with all of that. I haven't turned my telly on in days.

And I will add that the divisions that they promoted* went a lot further than only between "parents and their children"...rich and poor, black and white, and old and young

It is essential too that we gain the knowledge we need, and share what we learn.....

"To really understand something is be liberated from it. Dedicating oneself to a great cause - taking responsibility and gaining self-knowledge is the essence of being human. A predatory capitalist's truest enemy and humanity's greatest ally is the self-educated individual who has read, understood; delays their gratification, and walks around with their eyes wide open."......the epilogue from The Four Horsemen

Good Night
