"The website in question – www.dajaz1.com – was not some obscure, dubious blog – it was a popular platform for DJ’s that was once featured on MTV. The Department of Homeland Security seized the website for over a year on charges it now admits were completely false..... The DHS has already seized dozens of websites merely for linking to copyrighted material, despite the fact that such material isn’t even hosted on the website. The lesson to take from this is that the government can just claim your website contains copyrighted material with no evidence whatsoever, and seize it indefinitely." - Stop SOPA passage.

In other news: "Federal agents recently visited a food storage cannery in Tennessee, demanding customer lists, wanting to know the identity of Americans who are purchasing food storage. When the manager could provide no such record, the agents appeared to become very agitated and after several minutes of questioning finally left with no information....... The recent U.S. Senate passage of S. 1867, which authorizes military detention and trial of U.S citizens under the international laws of war (as if we were conquered Iraq or Afghanistan) is also an expression of their intent, and their contempt for the Bill of Rights.

Hey, don't you think that they are not scouring all these sites, especially Occupy Wall Street and all the other sister sites? As long as we have the Bill of Rights and the Constitution they cannot shut down the wishes of the people, for we are the people of the United States. We have the right to express our beliefs and it is our right to practice freedom of speech and the right to assemble!

You mean the same way they have not been holding American Bradley Manning for 2 years (in direct violation of the Bill of Rights requirement for a swift public jury trial). Yeah if the government can do that then they'll have no qualms about yanking websites off the net. They already did it ~1000 times already..... and then later admitted they had no case, but that didn't stop the damage caused.

If they admitted they had no cause, then where is the class action lawsuit to punish the guilty and prevent repeats.

You can't sue prosecutors after they decide, "Oh sorry there's no case," and let you go.

I'm surprised no one comments on the WEBSITES that are being SHUTDOWN and stifling our free speech. Is there any doubt that if SOPA passes, the homeland security will immediately label occupywallst.org as a "copyright infringer" and yank it off the net?

Of course they will.

It normally wouldn't be their business unless they think they have a food supply line to cut-off. I'm not sure I want to think about what scenario would bring the necessity of that to fruition.

Divine, I agree. When people can no longer feed there children all hell will break loose.

[-] 2 points by divineright (664) 12 years ago

Very true. Let's hope things can turn around before it gets to that point.

I don't thik they plan to "cut off" the food supply. Instead the FEMA will have a list and they'll be able to say, "Bill Smith bought a year of food. Let's go steal from his basement and hand-it-out to the surrounding community."

Nor does it have to a major event like the collapse of society. It could just be a hurricane that knocks-out power, so FEMA starts taking your food to redistribute it. You see the U.S. Government thinks it has power to do anything, including suspend the Bill of Rights and take your property without just compensation.

That still is way outside the scope of what I think the U.S. Government/FEMA should be doing, but I have to admit that's a slightly less nefarious scenario than comes to mind when I hear of bizarre activity like that. I'll hope your take on it is closer to the truth if it has to be the lesser of two evils.

Well I have a problem with the U.S. government barging through my door, entering my basement, and carrying away my year's supply of food. Per the 10th amendment any such power to redistribute food during an emergency is reserved to the State government.

[-] 1 points by divineright (664) 12 years ago

I agree with you 100% there. Such a scenario would be nefarious...just that an attempt to cut off citizens food supply completely until they were detained would be worse. Let's hope enough people have drawn the line and are willing to keep either of those scenarios from happening.
