Occupy Wall Street the protest that started September 17th near Wall Street in New York City is going strong, but it needs a clearly define goal to keep going. Don't get me wrong I'm all for what their doing and even thought occupying and protesting in Washington DC was the way to get real change to happen. But without a define goal nobody including the people who might be able to help you will know what you want. You can't just angrily protest the unfair and unjust, you need to have a demand.

Let me make a few suggestions. From the signs and what I've read I can safely assume most of you, do not like the growing inequity in the country. The rich keep getting richer, the middle class is dwindling, and the poor keep getting poorer. This is a recipe for disaster. Any time you look at history, and this happen, a revolution soon followed. If you get money out of politics it puts a stop to the influence Wall Street has over the political system and the benefits it has in making them richer. So demand number one, get money out of politics, the separation of business and state. A good start for such a demand is a constitutional amendment started by Dylan Ratigan at getmoneyout.com sign the petition then make it a demand and reinstate Glass-Steagall.

The second demand is an easy one END THE WARS period. It makes no difference how long were in Iraq or Afghanistan as soon as we pull out the results will be the same no matter how many years were there, (which is fighting among themselves, civil war). The money you would save by ending the wars could be used for the government to bring down the debt and create jobs.

Third and not least the United States should do its part in really addressing climate change. You don't need to debate it, because the things that are necessary to control our contribution to raising CO2 levels are things with overall benefits. Benefits such as saving money on electricity by switching light bulbs, or money on gas with a hybrid. So even if you don't believe in climate change working with the environment helps us all.

Every successful movement has had a demand or goal and this should be no different. Whether it was the civil rights movement, the women's suffrage movement, or the Indian independence movement they all made their demands known and achieved it. A goal prevents any political party from hijacking you and steering you in their direction. Isn't the purpose of such a protest to have a change occur, then you must have a demand for the change you want.

It's easy. We should have two demands. Audit the FED, with that it will open a can of worms and the second is to just ENFORCE the constitution and the rest will follow. 1 Audit the FED 2 Enforce the constitution EZ EZ EZ

Truth. The OP gets an A for following the news and digesting everything the controlled media feeds him on climate change, which used to be global warming, which used to be a coming ice age. And thinking mercury vapor light bulbs are going to fix it.

Edit: FORCING us to use mercury vapor light bulbs and tossing the people in the old light bulb factory out when they closed it.

Sounded like examples to me. That is what they teach you in writing, you make a statement and then give examples. Also I took it to mean we invest in green alternatives.

Well OK, but in physics, you make sure the thermodynamics numbers add up before you run around with guns putting an American factory out of business to give the business to Chinese suppliers for something that costs more.

Green Alternatives is codespeak for tax-and-stock swindle.

Examples:

Hydrogen fuel (haha, not a fuel, FAIL)

Mercury Vapor Light Bulbs (already explained, plus a lot of drawbacks for the user)

Solar (Energy return is approximately the lifetime of the device)

Wind (Energy return is longer than the lifetime of the device, meaning it can never pay back)

And so on.

Ending the wars would open a much bigger can of worms than auditing the FED, but both should be done, for sure. The thing is, if we have a system of government that represents THE PEOPLE, then we can do all of this and more. We get money out of politics, and support a system of government that actually reports to us, we win.

This is a good article, at least the demands aren't as outragous as some I've read, but how do we do these things. Exactly what does Justin mean when he says get the money out of politics, that could be taken so many ways.

  1. Get money out of politics by the constitutional amendment started by Dylan Ratigan at getmoneyout.com
  2. The President could end the wars by himself.
  3. Invest in Green alternatives.
