Fellow activists, do you agree that it would beneficial to sway the police? (See Albany, NY; Wisconsin last year). This 1 minute video explains one effective way to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOHDS1KiXHs Several people with whom I spoke at the Oakland GA on Wednesday agree with this: part of the problem is that we’re trying to dialog with police AT the protest sites, while they’re on the job. This doesn’t work for 2 reasons: in those situations they’re generally (though this is hard to see from our perspective) 1) fearful (not that they’d admit it); and 2) under a hell of alot of pressure. You can’t have real dialog in this type of environment. That’s why in the video we stress doing the work beforehand. This yields results. What do you think?
Police are not going to join the side of large groups of rabble rousers with nothing better to do than chant slogans against the world as they see it. Large groups of people who, because they can't afford new I Phones, hate those that can.
stop defending cop killers and stop calling for the killing of cops and you might get somewhere.... one of the first major protests was Troy Davis... then you want to cops on your side?
The police just planted a flyer at a rally that says the 99 want to shoot the police. A complete black op hate tactic, if you ask me.
