Forum Post: get a job

If you spent less time protesting (without a purpose I might add) and more time working, you might actually get to a position of power where you can make a difference. Anyone who is doing this is a joke and doesn't understand how the economy works. What you are arguing for is not a far stretch from socialism. We can have everyone be equal, however those equals shares are going to be tiny, so instead of people (most likely the idiots protesting) being poor, everyone will be equally poor! Yippee!!!! This is the world we live in, so either eat or get eaten.

LOL Actually most of the folks involved in OWS have work even if they aren't paid for it...ask any housewife or househubby or student about that...smile Maybe some of what folks want is too far out there (right now), and maybe some of it is past due, but rather than sitting around and grousing they are making some effort to move things forward...can you say the same thing, Dude?

Get a job you say......... well let me see the longest I have been unemployed was 4 months after I discharged from the USMC, honorably and combat vet, in 91. I am the middle class, family, home owner, debt. I am a conservative democrat only because I have no other options for a political party.I understand the economy I also understand that the government has been bought and paid for by the Banks, Corporations, and the mega rich. I have no voice this is where we the 99% are taking OUR stand it is not rich against the poor, not GOP vs DEM it is about the average American having a voice.

missripley - i understand it sucks to be unemployed, but protesting won't pay the bills

Accountability! why did they have all those bills in the first place. If you're living paycheck to paycheck before the economy went downhill, you were living recklessly in the first place. That onus falls on the idiot who decides to over-spend in good times and not plan for the bad, not on wall st.

Im fighting for my future; by working 80 hours a week and going to school full-time for my master's, therefore setting me up to make a lot of money. So while you guys are "protesting", I'll be relaxing on some island somewhere enjoying myself. Enjoy the fight! You can't win this one

You do realize that the reason so many of these people feel the need to protest in the first place is because they can't find a job to begin with, right? Or at least not one that allows them to bring in enough money to pay their bills and pay off debt and support themselves and their families.

What we are arguing for is accountability. I didn't realize that expecting everyone, from the students with loans to the people running Wall St., to follow the rules and pay back the money given to them, was 'socialism'.

Yes, we want equality, something this country supposedly guarantees. We don't want every American to make the exact same amount of money regardless of their job, but we do want the rules to apply equally to every citizen, instead of giving these people who make a buck off of us losing our homes and jobs and stability a break.

The world we live in is broken. I pity anyone like you who would rather just deal with it than actually attempt to make a change for the better.

Hey, getajobyoubums! Thanks for coming in and reading these posts. We are fighting for our future here, what kind of future it will be, for you and me and us, and your voice is part of that. Keep reading, keep writing, keep thinking. And I hope that job of yours is not outsourced.

But if it is, we'll have a spot for you.

At least we're fighting for our future....

You have no idea how democracy works. Read a book.
