The city of Oakland is doing a general strike on November 2nd. If you want the same thing in your neighborhood, write it on twitter with the hashtag #generalstrike.
For instance: "Let's all strike on November 2nd in [insert city]! #generalstrike"
I did a quick Google search for that hashtag and a lot of results came up. Looks like this post was a success :).
