Forum Post: Fundamental Flaw in the system

Our system is broken because of the “professional politicians” and their big money interests.

After the stock market crash of 1929 and the great depression that followed, laws were put in place to regulate the stock market and the financial institutions to make sure that tragedy never happened again. All these laws were reversed by your “professional politicians”, the laws and regulations were reversed in the name of greed for the big money interests. People have been warning that we were headed for a train wreck since the 1990s, but your lawmakers ignored those warnings in favor of big money, and steamed full speed ahead into the catastrophe of 2008.

Our free enterprise system thrives on the competition between companies and businesses large and small to provide the best services and products for your dollar. That system only works if the same rules of survival and failure in the open market place apply to all.

The biggest money interests that have a firm grip on your “professional politicians” corrupt our free enterprise system. The insurance, credit card and banking industries are among a few of the special interests that don’t have to live by the open market rules. It was their greed, mismanagement and dangerous financial investing that got them into trouble. But your tax dollars bailed them out so we can go back to paying high rates, and they can go back to billion dollar profits.

We need to learn from history and fix our system, or we are doomed to fail again.

We need term limits for all elected offices.

We need people that will put the nations best interests in mind first, before their own self interests, and that’s exactly what would happen with term limits for every elected office in this country. The hundreds of lawyers we have in congress now that have brought us to the nightmare situation we are in today, would move on to something more lucrative, and we would get people that actually want to improve things, and listen to the people that voted for them. There are millions of qualified people that would love to serve this country if given the chance. We all know people that can do a better job than the lawyers we have in there now.

We the people can change this mess with congressional term limits.

Untill we revoke the way our currency is created as debt - we will not be able to enjoy the liberty and prosperity that this nation has known in the past. Our founders understood this and wrote in the Constitution that Congress shall coin and regulate the currency. Congress does not have the authority to delegate their responsibility which has been mandated by the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution.

Over time whoever issues and regulates the currency will control the nation.

Agreed! Another way to empower government is to force them into business they must be responsible for the economy by owning and operating all the industry sectors. A government without sources of income is absolutely worthless.

Our government should carry out their responsibility which has been mandated by the U.S. Constitution. Our government should issue our currency and credit rather than borrow our currency from the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve creates our currency out of thin air and charges interest on the use of it.

However, I cannot agree that the government should own and operate industry. That would totally fail. They cannot even do what they have already been tasked to do,

As per the U.S. Constitution: "Congress shall coin and regulate the currency."

I do respectfully disagree with the inability of government to own and operate our industries. We do not need to reinvent the wheel, let us copy from Canada with 200 industries, Brazil with 150 industries, and France with 100 industries. These countries are truly economic power houses and their citizens do enjoy free socialized medicine, free education all the way to college. What’s wrong with that?

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

If we are to be a nation governed by law, then the U.S. Constitution would require an ammendment in order for the federal branch to own and operate industry.

The U.S government is the largest destroyer of the environment. I would not like to see beaureaucrats given more responsibility.

If Congress created our money rather than borrow the use of our own asset, there would be plenty of money to fix our infrastructure and provide a safety net for those in need.

Not necessarily true the government already own and operate the post office, the railroads and many other industries.

What is the purpose of having a do nothing huge government?

No argument there.

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

I would like to see our goverment fullfill their duty. Obviously they are failing. Our regulatory agencies are generally controlled by the regulated IE: SEC, FDA.

The post office is a successful government operation however, government ownership of railroads is limited.

@Markmad nice chatting with you, but I must sign off . . take good care.

Anyways, do you offer any solutions or just same old antagonism?

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

IMHO if Congress fulfilled their responsibilities as mandated by law, things would resolve very quickly and peace and prosperity would result.

I agree. And since each debt dollar must be repaid in the future with interest (by definition), the total number of dollars must expand exponentially forever just to keep our current money system afloat. So here we are with hundreds of trillions of dollars in derivatives; debt-created money which exceeds the actual resources and productive capacity of the world many times over.

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

That is so true . . . and this was all engineered.

[-] 1 points by Rosemary2 (29) 12 years ago

Maybe so, but it can't go on forever. Recognizing that our current money system is failing, we need to focus on building something better to take its place - alternative currencies (non debt based) managed in a decentralized way are our best move forward in creating a thriving, equitable economy imo.

I support the U.S. Constitution - "Congress shall coin and regulate the currency." Only a sovereign nation can create a sovereign currency.

"The money power preys upon the nation in time of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me, and causes me to tremble for the safety of our country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the republic is destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln

[-] 1 points by Rosemary2 (29) 12 years ago

Great quote. What Lincoln feared has indeed occurred. I support the U.S. Constitution too. At this point I cannot trust our Congress with the power to coin and regulate currency. What to do?

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

The money power has corrupted our Institutions, Congress, Universities and on and on. I still think that following the Constitution will save us.

Our government refuses to follow our Constitution. Voting means picking the lesser evil from preselected (by the money power) choices. Things are seriously broken.

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

We out number the Money Power by millions to one. We cannot continue to play their game. We must take back the power. I will not vote for the lesser of two evils again. . .

I am doing everything I can, trying to learn as much as possible and communicate as much as possible.

[-] 1 points by Rosemary2 (29) 12 years ago

Me too! Learning, communicating, and refusing to play their game - working together is the key.

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

Agreed . . . you go sister . . .

. . . working together is the key . . .

you have no idea what you even said. "as dept" means the dollar is a placeholder for the actual asset, was gold now based on the markets, so the dollar is in a way, a stock. each dollar is issued with a 2% debt attached to it and this is why we need to allow immigrants to move here and stop sending the cash out of the country, leaving us to pay the 2% on it.

[-] 1 points by commonsense11 (195) 12 years ago

We can blame ourselves as a nation for continuing to elect these career politicians. I swear we are such idiots! We need to organize find successful small business men, teachers, nurses and so on to run as independents and vote them into office.

Money should only be printed by the public if it’s backed by people’s productive power. NOT A RICH BANKER the FED.

Sortition our leaders, let the chips fall where they may.

Anyone that can hold a job, feed, cloth, and keep a roof over their family’s head in these hard economic times is more than qualified to do a congressman’s job, it’s not a complicated job, it’s made complicated by the people we have in there now. A congressman’s job is just a matter of personal integrity, knowing right from wrong, and educating yourself on the facts of the issue, “is it good for the country and it’s people”, “or is it bad for the country and it’s people”.

Frankly I think a well organized, well informed group of 5th graders would do a better job than the hundreds of lawyers we have in there now. The 5th graders decisions would certainly be based on doing the right thing for this country and it’s people, rather than the greed and struggle for power we are getting now.

I'd make it illegal for lawyers to serve. I'd also go for term limits on all political positions at every level. Then we'd need to deal with the so called professional bureaucrats, they're another huge problem as well. Get rid of the thieving pols and the Corps. will simply buy the corrupt bureaucrats.

you guys voted in a bunch of noobs. thats worth sh!t. it takes a while to learn enough about politics to be an effective rep. this is not the same as hiring a dishwasher. and considering you guys play uber-patriots on one hand then talk about tearing it down on the other, you should drop the party line crap and start thinking for yourself, for a change.
