I do think freedom of speech is important, but not when it interferes with other rights. You have no right to speech that causes harm to others and infringes on their rights, for example, hate speech, slander, threats, extortion ... I think most reasonable people would agree. I know John Stuart Mill did.

No right to speech that causes harm to other people and infringes on THEIR rights? Are you kidding me? I'd say that well over 75% of those who have participated in this so called "movement" haven't abided by those guildelines. Where does Mercy for Animals fall into your category?

[-] 1 points by QuietDay (59) 13 years ago

It's not 'my category', although I do agree with it ...

Are you <> kidding? Hey... What the <>!? I just came here to talk about Ron Lawl? Ron Lawl? What the <> is going on here? [:)]

Freedom of speech is everything to me. Also, Jesus believed you shouldn't beg for things. You should do it yourself or else you won't get anything. Was Jesus a capitalsit?

[-] 1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

In so many words, yes he was.

[-] 1 points by raines (699) 13 years ago

It's important enough to be the 1st amendment to the Constitution.

[-] 0 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

Too bad the 1st amendment to the Constitution doesn't have a place with this website, or this movement.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 13 years ago

I agree that it should. I'm very upset about it actually.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 13 years ago

Hope this helps, and Happy thanksgiving !!(hope it's still free to say that, other than on a company logo)

[-] -1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

It's free, as long as they agree with you. If not, free speech is not tolerated.

I depend upon freedom of speech.

It must be remembered that

Corporations Do Not Have Tongues

z

[-] -1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

That's an ignorant statement. If corporations don't have tongues, neither does your waste of a cause.

Looks like no brain either. Thanks for proving my point.

it is my delight to do all that I may . . .

[-] 0 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 13 years ago

It is by far the most important thing.

And yes that includes hate speech.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

It's important, but hate speech should be out of the question. I'm Canadian.

[-] 2 points by April (3196) 13 years ago

Is it ok to say I dislike anarchy?

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

Sure. That's not hate speech. Anyhow, you don't have hate speech laws in US so you can say pretty much what you want.

[-] 2 points by ScrewyL (809) 13 years ago

I hate haters. So much.

[-] 0 points by POSTERMAKER (0) 13 years ago

And the haters hate you too .

[-] 1 points by thegrinchwhostoleyourmoney (15) 13 years ago

It's not ok to criticize 2012 campaigns. talk about LAWL

[-] 0 points by POSTERMAKER (0) 13 years ago

I hate Lawl too.

[-] 1 points by thegrinchwhostoleyourmoney (15) 13 years ago

I hate censorship

[-] -2 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

I guess my point here is that those who AGREE with the Occupy Wallstreet Movement are given a FREE PASS to scream, bitch, and use profanity as they wish on this website. In fact, they are encouraged to do it. Yet, when someone who takes the same approach disagrees with the movement, this website will BLOCK their IP address. The folks who run this website are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical assholes who can't take what they dish. That's the bottom line.

[-] 1 points by nichole (525) 13 years ago

It seems to me that they can't handle ambiguity. You can support Occupy outright, or you can bash it .... from what I gather, you can't attempt to view it objectively and offer up reasonable criticism.

[-] 1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

My criticism will never seem reasonable to you or anyone else in this movement, for the very same reasons you just indicated here. You can't view your own movement, or corporate structure, objectively. The majority of this movement are blinded by jealously, and their own personal greed.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

I think I disprove your point singlehandedly. I posted some stuff that was extremely critical of Occupy and I never got banned and none of my posts were deleted.

[-] 1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

Well apprently you are the chosen one, because that was not the case from my point of view. I was cursed at, and torn down with language that was absolutely disrespectful. Yet, I was the one who was banned under another user ID. In addition, this website frequently and publicly calls out users who do not comply with the beliefs of the movement, referring to them as trolls. Yet, they encourage "troll" behavior in their movement's members, no different than a terrorists would. This website is a disgrace to free speech, a disgrace to the idea of debate, and the people who are responsible for it should be thrown in jail for desecrating this country.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

Can you show me a link where this website claims a certain user is a troll?

[-] 1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

You aren't looking hard enough. It happens frequently.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

I'm not going to do your job. If you can't show me even one mere link, then I can't take your argument seriously. Don't be lazy. Do a little work to support your claims. Laziness is lame. Your not lame are you? What's the point of making claims if you can't even lift a finger to support them?

[-] 1 points by bluedoghunter (3) 13 years ago

Sorry, not living in front of my PC. There are numerous topics dedicated to calling out objectors. I'm not concerned at all about proving anything to you. Those responsible know what they are doing.

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 13 years ago

Then, why did you waste your time posting a lame assumption? If you only have a bit of time in front of the PC, I would suggest you use it wisely. Write good posts with good arguments and backup your claims. It makes you look weak to come here, drop an assumption, then forgo the act of backing it up.
