This is a long term struggle. We must remain steadfast prepared for the long haul. The corporate media and the mainstream parties including law inforcement will try hard to dismantle the occupy movement. There is no doubt about that. Our first strategy should be to stay united and viable for the next 2-4 year at the least. Keeping to realistic notions we should aim to get some really socially conscious candidates into congress first. Perhaps this will pass the legislation needed to realize the "four attainable goals". After that we have the harder task of fundamentally changing American Capitalism progressively within the next 15 years.....These are exciting times. Time is on our side, but the dangers are also great, we need to strike while the iron is hot and be strategic about our long term goals as well. Let us dream when necessary, but let us also be harsh realists when it suits our overall goal of bringing a more just and sustainable society and a more perfect union.

  1. Enforce existing laws around banking, and bring back protections such as Glass-Steagal (sp?)

To be attainable, I think we might say "Reform the Fed".

Congress gave over the power of the purse in 1913 to a quasi-public-private bank called the Federal Reserve which manipulates global currencies. This is wholeheartedly unconstitutional, and at this point it's become immoral. The Federal Reserve must go.

1: only a portion of the base and portion of the country believe this and thus far, not a decent enough argument has been made to sway us. 2: Impossible and counter intuitive to the democratic process or republican theory of government. Lobbyists have a bad name because of CORPORATE and PRIVATE INTEREST lobbyists. Lobbyists are also who convince state officials to patch up portions of rural highways, increase police patrols in troubled areas or on a federal level, push to support or oppose specific legislation of civic value. Its not all fishing trips and fancy dinners in exchange for drilling rights and deregulation. 3: Are you saying recall the current government and then go after campaign finance, or are you saying implement it for the next election round, which is in less time from now than a recall election would actually take. 4: That is nowhere near a simple goal and the differing schools of thought on how to do that make for a very very long debate that we would be better off having after we all came together and accomplished the one impossible goal of election and lobbying reform.
