Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy. anon

in other words: meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Has this really been a prelude to revolution? If so they need to try again it isn't working very well. I'd like to see real change, but through the system. The longer these general assemblies sit around and wait for someone to wave a wand to make change happen, the more irrelevant they become. I had hoped at first that they would recruit good people for congress from every occupy and make things happen. Instead all we get is slogans.

I can understand your frustration and disappointment, as I share it. But I must wonder if the process as it is now constituted is a necessary phase, not of change, but as a prelude to change. I.e., gaining attention and marshaling likeminded people into a community out of which will grow unexpected but substantive forms to address these issues. Early on, I also thought that just electing this or that “right” person to address our issues was the solution. But sadly, I’ve come to the realization that the problems aren’t just the wrong politicians, but rather a need for far-reaching, systemic reform. A revolution? I don’t know. But the continued cyclic swing between parties that only produces more of the same, and worse, isn’t the answer.

I get the feeling that the Chomsky styled anarchists are leading things and are devoted to developing a new system. It's a nice dream, but things would have to get a lot worse here then they were in the Great Depression. If we didn't get a new order with one third of the country unemployed we won't get it now. I see the system we have as something we can use. Just waiting for things to get so bad everything falls apart is, to me, immoral.

I agree, nothing will come of this if they restrict their action to demonstrations alone.

Some people here look at OWS as a revolution. Of course, there are different ways to look at a revolution.

They are going to find themselves being used to provide numbers for someone else's agenda. It's already been done with some of the unions. It's the union agenda though that is going to get moved forward, but not for everyone.

Well said. As long as one man seeks power over another, the system never changes. Where is the system where each man puts his shoulder to the wheel and seeks not to be the task master, I dont seek to be your superior. i only wish that you people would do that which is in your power, to improve your lives, and those around you. this is my wish also.

I actually agree. Consider the 60's carefully: they had a lot of love and passion, yet little change did really occurred.

What's needed is something big enough, compelling enough to make the transition happen. The internet is that tool, so a true r)evolution is possible, but for now there seems to be only repeating history.

But, isn't that what OWS is trying to avoid by remaining non-political?

No, not really...perhaps it is because in our lifetime we have been fed this ideal or myth that revolution is just a power struggle. What people don't understand is...and I will continue to point this out...is that this is beyond even a global "revolt" of just one country, one nation, or one group of people!! The past 75 years has engaged many, many nations to stand up and "revolt" against what has been done to humanity and its children. And the greedy, get greedier, but only in a different phase! What is taking place now is a UNIVERSAL "revolt"... It has gone to a place where now individuals are being forced to change, or be destroyed...and not by the hand of others! This era is unlike any that has ever gone before us....and guess what? It is not controlled by any one (1) human being, or group of human beings!! This is a revolt of all that is and was...so people need to get with the program!!!

Without giving it a hocus pocus effect, does anyone have the answer to this?

http://adonialights.tripod.com/what-to-believe.html

Divine intervention, Solar Flares bombarding the Earth, global economic collapse? I don't see any one individual revolting that is creating that!!!

Be careful out there OW.... this is a long struggle, but a wake up call for the world!!!

So it can't be stopped? There is time, we need to demand an end to the corporate machine known as the federal government. Let them only do a small number of things and let the states do the rest.

[-] 2 points by Lardhead2 (67) 12 years ago

I agree with you. But most of OWS wants the opposite.

[-] 1 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

You have to do more then just demand things.

So, therefore, don't do anything.
