There are many books on the subjects "occupy" is currently protesting about. These include some of the following:
"Boomerang" and "The Big Short" by Michael Lewis
"Shorting Mezzanine Home Equity Tranches" by Lippman
"When Corporations Rule the Earth", "The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community", "The High Cost of Phantom Wealth" and more from the pen of David Korten.
Of course this is not everyone, and many have come from the sacred halls of Wall Street and have seen the light. Turning the light on gave them the tools to profit off Wall Streets immoral and unethical process.
At this note we must realize most of them do not even realize they are doing wrong, so there is an uphill battle to convince them otherwise.
To quote a person of history putting a light on how hard it is to convince them, I will go to Leo Tolstoy,"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him."
This is shown with one of the authors of the books I listed. He went to the head of the branch of AIG which handled their huge subprime mortgage bonds division (otherwise known as "asset backed securities"), just to tell him they were going to fall apart. He was ridiculed and sent packing. That person was with one of the largest banks in the world and knew what he spoke of.
And there was a handful of others who could see, and mathematically documented their concerns, the massive collapse that was coming.
The Tranches, or layers of subprime loans based on their volatility, were upgraded to make them look more acceptable thus making the situation even worse.
I put this down because the initial thrust has been made and caught the attention of the world now. So the time has come to sharpen the tip of the spear and aim at the real point that is the wound for the earth and its economies and concentrate on that objective.
True, there are many avenues needed to be corrected for this to happen including putting tight regulations back on the financial institutions while enforcing them, not being lax.
Replacing politicians with those having a recorded history of representing the people of the United States and not the corporations or wealthy of the CSA (Corporate States of America. By truly representing the people the economic history of the country will be much healthier.
Get the money out of Washington DC. Our legislators should not be indluenced more by the monied sources than by the people. There should be communication re-established between the people and their "elected" representative in DC. And in their states too.
My blog has been posting much of this for over a year (aristotliancogitations@blogspot.com), hoping something would come of it so I am overjoyed to see the demonstrations.
The real concern is we need to really sharpen the aim to truly suceed!
And remember the old adage "When money talks, truth stands silent!", to remind ourselves constantly to be on guard against the monied sources who are used to buying people to bend them to their will!
