Trigger-happy and tree-huggers meet in the middle? Not likely.

Why do people feel a need to own weapons that are clearly designed to kill other people?

Gun-lovers live in fear,. fearful small creatures they be.

A coward died a thousand times, a brave man, only once.

Fear is the mind-killer.

A gun will not make you bullet-proof.

Fear is the little death.

[-] 1 points by jph (2652) 11 years ago

true that.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -F. Herbert

Fear of death is a tool of control the 1% use it daily in their media to manipulate,. do not fall for it!

Bill Hicks has some fine things to say on this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=CA&v=iMUiwTubYu0

I choose love.

Seven books I think in all - it has been a while since I read them all. Very good stories with much sociological depth.

I like the implication that it's reality already.

That's the mindset of true change.

Accept no parameters other than those of change for the better.

Epigenetics & fear extinction.

The need to own weapons is about fears. Fears are made extinct by understanding. Understanding comes with information. Information comes with speech and expression.

Free speech is abridged.

We need Article V to get it back.

The same as why people feel a need to take them away or ban certain aspects of them. That need is a false illusion of security. And as the controversy rages on your politicians will be taking your real social security from you.Kind of like gun smoke for dopes.Oh who will save us?

[-] -3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Who will save us?

I don't think anyone gives a flying fuck about us.

Might be why the average American wants to hang on to guns.

[-] 1 points by rayolite (461) 11 years ago

Forgot how to hang onto the society of freedom?

[-] 1 points by nobnot (529) from Kapaa, HI 11 years ago

No.I think the average American does not "hang onto" any more than you cling to why he should not enjoy what is /was his birthright. The average american obeys the law, goes to work and takes care of his family. But you are right in that no one gives a flying fu-k.

I think it is to feel empowered in a society that emasculates.

Not all people own weapons to kill other people - only people of "violence" do.

Do you think gun owners are "violent"?

[-] -2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

I own several guns, some on gas, that fire nails into hardwood. I don't think I am unarmed, even when I am in shirtsleeves.

I have had seventeen years of training in martial arts, and I know my way out of wet paper bag.

[-] 1 points by Shayneh (-482) 11 years ago

Yah, but you can't take a knife to a gun fight can you - just joking.

I used to take martial arts training years ago - great way to condition the body. Made it to green belt - then we moved. But I still can remember my Katas. Japanese martial arts.

I just do street fighting now. That's where we are heading.

Hey did you see the video of the guy who was going to take down the Karate instructor on the street - a youtube video-

The Karate instructor was watching this guy beat up on someone near by and yelled for him to stop. Well, the perp cam walking towards the instructor and when he got within arms length the instructor gave him a open handed chop (using the side of his hand) in a horizontal sweeping motion to the side of this guys head and neck just below his ear.

The guy dropped like a rock and didn't know what happened when he regained consciousness. It was so funny - but at the same time serious.

I've seen this method used to put people down - althought I haven't tried it it's a really easy method - it disrupts the persons brain temporarily and puts them down immediately.

There are a few videos on youtube that demonstrates this - do you know what I am speaking of?

The guy fell to the ground passed out.

I don't condone violence, and I don't share information about debilitating moves.
