Everyone in a village, except for one person, played and won the Spanish lottery. Now that everyone is wealthy is it utopia?

Sounds kind of like your group. No one wants to work!

They have $130,000 each.

That isn't going to get it for a lifetime. The odds are that since most of them are farmers or construction workers they are going to use that money to pay off bills and to expand or use the money to get more work.

The minimum payout is $130k each. Some families had more then one ticket. The article notes one family winning $520k with 4 tickets.

Even so, how long will that last? It is enough to build for a future with for some. What isn't noted is the amount of debt that each family has or tools that need to be replaced or houses that need to be repaired.

why are so many here worried about whether or not someone is going to work?....

hell... if they don't need to work they don't need to work... be happy for them....

there's always someone who wants and needs the job

Oh, let's see...

garbage pickup, water/sewer,electricity, fire and (gasp) police, food (you know, grocery or baker), hardware store, the list goes on.

Hope the village is big enuf to import some 99%ers

hmmm...ok...from the previous post... "....there's always someone who wants and needs the job...."

no? ... so why are you worried about... garbage pickup, water/sewer,electricity, etc.... ?

Because the entire village is now part of the 1%. They are gonna need new blood and a place to put them. It's not like the Bronx got rich...it's a VILLAGE in Spain, not likely a do-able commute, but that's only a guess on my part. Perhaps it is an easy commute, or perhaps these folks will move somewhere more glamorous and some 99%ers can just occupy the village and no one will care except for the one guy who didn't get in on it.

Freaky... I guess you don't understand.... the 1% ... are not just defined by being rich.... there are plenty of the 99% who are rich... the 1% are defined by being greedy & corrupt ....

The village has 2000 people. 1999 won.
