The many problems we're facing today are not like anything that has ever happen to us before.

Elections, voting and protesting won't fix the following:

"Sky rocketing debt, unemployment, underemployment, deficits, government failure, Economic systems failure, Financial systems failure, Market systems failure, Monetary systems failure, Social systems failure, Environmental systems failure, Ecosystems failure, corruption, greed, chronic recessions etc…"

If you've noticed, all these things have gotten worse in the last 30+ years despite Elections, voting and protesting.

These same things all happened starting in 1929.

For the most part but this is very different. Today we have huge problems like peak oil and peak employment that we didn't have back then. We have a huge energy problem that will take at least 30 years to prepare for and we've done nothing. We may have 5 to 10 years before energy the shortage totally consumes us. Then there's the employment problem (peak employment). The jobs are never coming back. It doesn't matter where they went. We have a growing global population (9 billion people) that need more and more employment while at the same time our technology is removing more and more jobs. Something has to give which equates to sky rocketing unemployment. Look at Europe. There are countries with 15 - 30 percent unemployment. In the U.S. we lie about real unemployment which is closer to 20 perect.

I think Dan Thomas has it right in "Death by Technology". He says that most if not all our problems stem from the rapid advances in our technology. We haven't learned how to control it or ourselves and our old form of government is in no way, shape or form to deal with it. Voting and protesting is futile.

Im afraid that the whole "peak oil" thing is a myth. And controlling technology is the problem? Who will control it?

Can you tell me what world production of CONVENTIONAL oil was in 2005, and what it is today?

Wow! Peak oil is a myth. That's why our country and the world is in so much trouble. I know some of the issues get clouded by rhetoric. Climate change, peak oil and peak employment are very serious problem that have gotten much worse because most people don't understand them until it kills thousands of people. Check out the oil drum (http://www.theoildrum.com) on peak oil.

It's unfortunate so many people don't even get the concept of peak oil, much less have any awareness of the real geological facts.

Saudi is building 16 nuclear reactors. That should be all the proof you need.
