The NSF leader and Dostour Party head said the fatwa issued by Mahmoud Shaaban, a professor of religious rhetoric at Al-Azhar University, was an attempt to incite violence.

“When such people incite killing in the name of religion without being arrested, we can kiss the regime goodbye,” tweeted ElBaradei. “How many crimes were committed against and in the name of Islam.”

Other religious groups have also called for the murder of protesters. Last week, Islamis groups Jihad Organization and Jama'a al-Islamiya said members of the elusive Black Bloc, a group of masked protesters that have not made their agenda clear, should also be killed.

“God orders us to kill, crucify or cut off the hands and feet of those who spread mischief on earth,” said Jama'a al-Islamiya's Mufti Abdel Akhar Hammad, citing a verse from the Quran. “The president must give that order."

GF- It is great to have a real expert on such an important issue here.
From what little I know of ElBaradei, he would be an excellent replacement for Morsi. Why is he not?
Is there any possibility that the MB will fail?

I wouldn't say I was an expert. I am particularly peeved at the intentional spin in the US. ElBaradei is definitely a necessary vocal critic and may be the best replacement. However, he is not the lone liberal voice. He is just the one that we recognize right off the bat. The NSF is a coalition of groups.

I didn't realize how much crap the MB owned. Some of it is so divorced from their religious stance that they are a laughing stock of sorts. I tried to go back and find the article on a singer that they were promoting that by their own standards would have been scantily dressed. Frankly, if it is possible for the MB to fail now they will simply lay in wait until someone else comes along and promises them power in exchange for selling Egypt. The kids that support them are pretty much locked in to what the MB is selling. Usually this type of devout fanaticism runs a 3 year course and dies off. A lot can happen in a three year period.
