Forum Post: Drone Strike Killed another 13 civilians on Sunday - You still think that's not a war crime?

"the drone attacks are WRONG. It's unconstitutional. It creates more enemies. We have to stop it."

  • Dennis Kucinich

Do you still think dropping bombs are the same as peace?

Topic for discussion

Could the aim be to create hostilities so they can perpetuate war for profit ?

Would you put it past the government and MIC to do such a thing considering their terrible war record?

Just a theory... but considering it's common knowledge these attacks are only fueling hatred for America and building resistance in Yemen and other places... why are they still doing it?

Making war is the single greatest injustice against the 99%.

I'm wondering why OWS is not mobilizing more of its resources in on stopping all these wars, and the making of even more wars..

war is the subject the US politicians never talk about

NPR said it was something else bur they's spinning

[-] 2 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

It probably won't even be mentioned at the debates because Romney and Obama have pretty similar stances on it.

there's a debate dedicated to foreign policy

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.

Chance for peace.

So is it a war crime or not?

Does killing innocent people in a country that doesnt want us there constitute a war crime?

Yes or No?

[-] -3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

War crimes must be determined by a court. The fact that the govt in question allows these military actions makes it unlikely that it would be considered a war crime.

It ain't right damn it!

So George Bush isn't a war criminal? Or is the government just corrupt?

I think the government is corrupt. Because Bush is definitely a war criminal and he has not been sent to the Hague.

He wasn't even impeached by the people that allegedly didn't support him.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Bush may indeed be a war criminal. I might even say he is. However, in order for me to be accurate in that assertion he MUST be found so in a court. Like the Hague as you say.

Is the govt corrupt? YES!

Anything else.?

War crimes must be determined by a court.

yes, in a perfect world. but as ows states quick rightly the government system is corrupt. that's why we need OWS and that's why Bush and Obama will get off scott free for their crimes.

It sucks!

We MUST protest against all pols to end the endless war on terror and fear mongering that has created the atmosphere that allows drone bombings, and anti civil rights laws.

We can't expect our corrupt politicians to do it without our massive growing protest movement putting pressure on them for real change!

Local officials in Yemen say that a United States-led drone strike over the weekend there killed 13 civilians.

Members of the Yemeni government tells reporters that an unmanned aerial vehicle operated remotely by the United States military executed more than a dozen civilians, including three women, near the town of Rada in al-Baitha province on Sunday.

Democracy Now says the family members tried delivering the dead bodies of their family to the Yemeni government demanding justice. At 9:30 in video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1MC365gVJWI#!

More than likely, there are drone attacks happening, that we never hear about.

[-] 0 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Like in Somalia

and the US government just declared a new terror group to go after in Pakistan.

[-] 1 points by Nevada1 (5843) 12 years ago

More murder to happen in Pakistan.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

yeah they just added a Pakistani group to the terrorist list this week actually.

Weird how more and more groups that hate America keep popping up in these countries our government is bombing, sanctioning, or invading, and killing innocent civilians.

Could it be that the corrupt government's foreign policy is counter productive to the "goal" they tell us about?

[-] 1 points by Nevada1 (5843) 12 years ago

If peace is goal, it all is counterproductive.

However the way it all looks, US government does not want peace, rather "war on multiple fronts".
