Forum Post: Don't VOTE for RON PAUL, don't VOTE for Nobody

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 19, 2011, 6:07 p.m. EST by LaoTzu (169)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Ron Paul is a nice guy and I like him and quite frankly I think he is the best fit politician out of all, but unfortunately our political system & economic system is corrupted. Therefore we can not rely on it nor him, nor any other politician that is unwilling to work for the PEOPLE with a minimum wage salary.

There seem to be a lot of pro Ron Paul threads. I think there are some people posting to provoke others. To give the impression that people are here campaigning for Ron Paul to be elected.

So don't be swayed by them. Make up your own mind.

The point about Ron Paul is he initially ran on a Libertarian ticket. He was pushed out of the debates. Got no media etc and then he moved to the Republican party.

He has at least tried to change them from within. I think he's a good guy and if the election goes ahead deserves support.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Agreed.

[-] 1 points by TimeForLiberty (21) 12 years ago

You should vote for the best one out there, ESPECIALLY since he wants to eliminate all the agencies that have been helping out big corporations!

EPA? In bed with big Auto - With Big coal - With Big Nuke . The states would do a much, much better job! Want proof? A few years ago, California wanted to raise their fuel standards. The EPA blocked them from doing so (in order to protect the auto industry!) So much for environmental protection!

FDA? In bed with GM corps, Big Pharma and Big Insurance - Ever wonder why they keep on putting ex Mosantos in the FDA?

At least Ron Paul is addressing ALL of these departments and wants to reduce their power. He's also up for reducing the President's pay to less than $40,000.

Your vote in this election more than in any WILL count.

So stop the ideological bickering and find a common ground with all different parties. There are many CRUCIAL topics that ALL Americans will agree on:

1-Our liberty is at stake with congress, the senate and Obama pushing the Patriot Act forward earlier this year. Do your research, check who opposed it!

2-The Federal Reserve has been making all of our lives MUCH more expensive. They are also for bailing out their big bank buddies. Who do you think pushed for the auditing of the Fed this year resulting in some VERY interesting findings!

I am not here to promote Ron Paul, because OWS is about much more than that. But make sure you get the complete picture before coming to any conclusions.

Cheers!

I would like to see Ron Paul run against Obama. No matter what, Obama will get re-elected, but at least the fake media will not be able to ignore Ron Paul any longer. It will never happen though the left and the right are scarred of the one man that wants to strip them of their power.

[-] 2 points by TroubledYouth45 (71) 12 years ago

Your right! We need a real person in office not a robot!

[-] 2 points by laffingrass (362) from Normal, IL 12 years ago

So...we should vote for nobody and then nobody will win the election?

Riiiiight.

[-] 1 points by thoreau42 (595) 12 years ago

I loled.

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

We the people have been divided and conquered for far too long. So many broken promises and so many unfulfilled lies told during election period. This country needs a re-start and it can not come from any one man. It has to come from the PEOPLE as our forefathers envisioned it. Together we can restore our country to a true Democracy.

[-] 2 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

There should be a law if the president lies by not even trying to keep his campaign promises he is put in prison or executed. What is worse then lying to an entire country so as to get elected )besides the obvious crimes that are worse)?

[-] 2 points by laffingrass (362) from Normal, IL 12 years ago

That's all cool and witty, but the rest of the country is going to elect somebody whether you like it or not.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

I totally agree. The PEOPLE elect whoever they wish. More power to them. Not the other way around.

[-] 1 points by kevsmif80 (2) 12 years ago

Ron Paul has put out a plan in in it would cut the presidents pay to $39,000 if elected. He has voted against all the bailouts and any unbalanced budget. Check out what he said about Occupy Wall Street.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cGwDJ0C0X8 he said the system has failed us....

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

As long as the political system remains corrupt, we can't depend on it and therefore I suggest not voting in a system that is already known throughout history to be compromised with broken promises. We the People can do it together. No one man can do it. If Ron Paul was truly for the people he would of been down at OccupyWallStreet with the PEOPLE. He doesn't support us, he just "agrees" with some of the "signs". I say VOTE for nobody. Nobody cares, Nobody speaks the truth, Nobody keeps election promises, Nobody helps the poor and jobless, Nobody listens to your concerns, if Nobody is elected, things will be better for EVERYONE!

[-] 1 points by Febs (824) from Plymouth Meeting, PA 12 years ago

So whom am I to vote for if I am not to vote for nobody?

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

You can vote for whoever you wish. All I'm saying is that voting for nobody is also a way that your voice can be heard. I can't tell you to vote for anyone that decision has to come from within yourself.

[-] 1 points by Febs (824) from Plymouth Meeting, PA 12 years ago

Perhaps if we actually had a protest vote option that has some consequences like forcing a new election with different candidates.

That being said I will be voting for Ron Paul. Pro peace, pro rights, honest.

[-] 1 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

That would only be useful if there were a no vote on the ballot. Without that it is just another example of the low turn out of voters.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Exactly, you don't have to vote. It doesn't make any sense to vote "not to vote" lol that is just another way that the 1% can build an accurate demographic of the 99%

[-] 1 points by uslynx81 (203) 12 years ago

Minimum wage salary is the worst ideal ever from the left. It hurts small business, it raises cost of retailers for jobs that require no skills to do. Also if you do a good job they will pay you more over time anyway. It creates a tax that hurts the poor, which is inflation. Also most people on minimum wage are mostly high school students. Also there is no such thing as minimum wage due to everything I just said. When a wage is forced on an employer they just pass the cost down to the product they are selling. This causes everything to go up in cost and your real wage which is your buying power stays the same. Even if minimum wage was 15 dollars an hour you would only be able to afford the things you can now and you still couldn't afford the things that you thought you could buy with the new wage. Why don't people see this?

[-] 1 points by frankchurch1 (839) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

NY should have a Occupy Party. Vote for that. In Va vote Obama. The GOP right now is just too dangerous.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

No the Occupation is not a political institution.

[-] 1 points by frankchurch1 (839) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Now, don't be too strident. We want all comers.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

It's not me who is saying this alone. All of the 99% agrees. The Occupation is a Leaderless Movement. It will not be Co-opted and it is not a political institution or party. We are THE PEOPLE, united as the 99%. By doing so you are only labeling "THE PEOPLE" into a particular group or category. We come from all walks of life with One common goal as we put aside our differences we come to a CONSENSUS to a true direct democracy.

[-] 1 points by frankchurch1 (839) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Oh, yea.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Trying to get us not to vote so the republican can win!!!!!!! Boo you suck!!!!

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

What I'm saying is, that whoever you vote doesn't matter. You have been fooled into thinking there is a Left Door & a Right Door. But both lead to the Slaughter House.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Trust me there is a difference. The left really has our best interest at heart if you can't see that you're not paying attention!!!!!

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Only a fool thinks 4 lefts makes a right.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Only a fool thinks that by not voting you're letting your voice be heard. Your previous post let's me know you are a republican shill. A

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

No I have no problem with anyone that supports either party. You as a person is still part of the 99%. Regardless of what party you choose to stand for. That is not what the 99% is about. We put aside each others differences for a direct democracy. It's just that, you would have to wake up and smell the coffee to notice that the "American Dream" is just that...a dream.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Then you have a problem with at least 80% of the country....stupid!!!!!!

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Lol, I laugh at you not with you.

[-] 1 points by mdgirl (34) 12 years ago

Ron Paul is running as a Republican. Who in their right mind would run as a republican that wasn't for the rich and corporations??? think about it! YOU AREN'T JUST VOTING FOR A CANDIDATE BUT A PARTY! You need CONGRESS TO GET THINGS DONE! Who Do you think ROn PAul is going to work with? He will be working with Republicans and passing all of their legislation!!!

[-] 1 points by Emcalone (88) from Plano, TX 12 years ago

he will work with no one, just as he has been for the last 30 years

[-] 1 points by mdgirl (34) 12 years ago

so then nothing will happen...that sounds great! If you read his voting record- he votes with Republicans almost every time

[-] 1 points by Emcalone (88) from Plano, TX 12 years ago

he votes against them when they are in control. he was the biggest critic of bushes economic policies

[-] 1 points by mdgirl (34) 12 years ago

who will he work with? he has to work with one party

[-] 1 points by Emcalone (88) from Plano, TX 12 years ago

like i said. he cares more about influence than power.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Exactly!

[-] 1 points by RawrRawr (1) 12 years ago

Oh, I'm sure that those entrenched in Washington would love for us to stay home and not vote. Not sure how that's going to help our system.

And no to Ron Paul. I'm amazed at how many kids fall for his brand of pseudo-libertarianism. Sigh...

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

You can let your voice be heard, by not voting. I hope you know.

[-] 1 points by DikPot (6) 12 years ago

Sure, and let the Republicans take over Washington. No thanks. I'll vote for Elizabeth Warren in my state, even though she's, gasp, a Democrat.

[-] 1 points by mdgirl (34) 12 years ago

Exactly, you have to vote or Republican's will take over Washington....

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

You can do as you wish. More power to you. All I'm saying is that by not voting, you can also make your voice heard. Today the political system is rigged. It's like this, they give you the illusion of a Left Door & a Right Door as an option. Either door you choose they both lead you to the Slaughter House.

[-] 1 points by DikPot (6) 12 years ago

I don't disagree with you that the two party system is flawed. That being said, a democracy only works when the people participate, and voting is our primary means of doing so. Not voting is not getting your voice heard. Simple as that. Instead of telling people not to vote, ask them to write in candidates, push for a legislative change (like in Australia where voting is practically mandatory) etc. Populism works. Ask Evo Morales, and other presidents who got elected despite corporate opposition.

If you want an oligarchy, don't vote. No politician gives a damn if you vote for them or not. They just want to get elected.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

That is why we the People have our ultimate weapon..... the CONSENSUS process.

[-] 1 points by DikPot (6) 12 years ago

I just don't care to sit through a youtube vid. No offense intended, honestly.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

No offense taken. However that also redeems your right to think that I am wrong if you aren't willing to fully understand my take. :) Power to the People. ♥

[-] 1 points by MechanicalMoney (208) 12 years ago

I don't agree, the pretenders vote for themselves, so it isn't possible to haven't a leader in republic....

[-] 1 points by baketherich (6) from Huntington, WV 12 years ago

Let's just all write in ballots and vote for Bill Brasky.

[-] 1 points by davebrestensky (59) 12 years ago

You have to vote. Not voting would probably mean a win for wall street. No matter which party you are from or if you independent you have to vote. Look don't get dwon on the candidates. We have the power to change their minds about everything it just takes the power of the people. Just like the Tea Party did to the Republicans they changed politicans minds by just continually protesting. So please not voting is not an option.

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Not true. You don't have to VOTE. Nobody fulfills their promise to the PEOPLE. Therefore we the people will fulfill them on our own until we find a perfect candidate that stands behind the PEOPLE, rather than in front of the PEOPLE.

[-] 1 points by davebrestensky (59) 12 years ago

Nice to dream. Good Luck with that.

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

No, correction. The "American Dream" is a fantasy, those that are under its hypnotic spell need to wake up.

[-] 1 points by WorldFreedom (62) 12 years ago

I totally agree.

Even a vote for Ron paul is a vote and endorsement for the encumbent, failed, arachaic system.

This failed system must be purged, by We The People, before a new system based on Liberty, Freedom, Equality and much more can replace it.

This is why #OWS is correct in not having leaders, demands etc - it still endorses the failed, corrupt system, and in any case they will say anything to pacify the movement while reneging on it.

The current OWS course is Perfect.

We must keep in mind that those in power were elected by the people to serve the people, and must obey the wishes of the people to go. if they refuse to go they cease to be a government and start to be a junta like dictatorship.

While I like Ron Paul, look at the celebrations surrounding Obama when he became president, and look at what Obama stands for today.

With the momentum OWS has behind it, I believe that the 2012 election will not proceed.

[-] 2 points by Mike122333 (102) 12 years ago

"the 2012 election will not proceed"?

watch it.

[-] 1 points by WorldFreedom (62) 12 years ago

The way things are going right now, the 2012 elections are far from certain.

I do not mean politically - there are any number of possible events shaping up that would make the elections impossible.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

That is stupid it will and if you don't vote guess who will???teabaggers and their candidate will win!!!

[-] 2 points by Mike122333 (102) 12 years ago

Yes, that was my point. Of course it is going to take place.

[-] 1 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Lol oh...the quotes gosh this conversation is so stupid!!!!!!

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Right on! :)

[-] 1 points by MrGregs (5) 12 years ago

I wish we could all vote no confidence but not voting makes you the same as the apathetic who just let what ever happens happen. I support most of what Ron Paul stands for but I will never vote for anyone who is associated with either Republicans or Democrats but do not blame people in this movement for wanting to.

[-] 1 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Right on MrGregs! :)

[-] 1 points by NYCJames (113) 12 years ago

Should we vote for Monty Brewster instead? (yes, tongue-in-cheek)

[-] 1 points by sickmint79 (516) from Grayslake, IL 12 years ago

if you want the status quo to change, you should vote for someone that's not status quo. how on earth does not voting do that?

[-] 0 points by SPORTCARX (21) 12 years ago

if you vote republican ...you vote against your self

[-] 0 points by Emcalone (88) from Plano, TX 12 years ago

agreed. The thing that all of you fail to realize is that democracy does not work. it is just a system of bribery. the best thing we can all do is hedge ourselfs for the coming crisis. wait for the state to collapse and them come out on the other side ready to create a society without a state at all.

[-] 0 points by karenpoore (902) 12 years ago

Voting to me would be condoning the corruption. Go ahead and vote they are all owned by Goldman Sachs, etc. so just pick one!

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

And since it is a publicly traded company, you can own Goldman Sachs.

[-] 0 points by LaoTzu (169) 12 years ago

Exactly, it's a trick of hands, 3-Card Monte...the oldest trick in the book. They give you the option of a Left door & a Right door....in which both lead towards the same slaughter house.

[-] 0 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

You're all stupid let's see how you like president Romney!!!!!

[-] 0 points by wweddingMadeintheUSA (135) 12 years ago

Vote for Obama can't have another republican president!!!!!

[-] 1 points by mgiddin1 (1057) from Linthicum, MD 12 years ago

4 more years for Barry "Corporate Wh@re" Soetoro!!!
