Nah. He shows his true colors with the arguments that he provided on that thread . It has nothing to do with his work status. I don't give a damn how much the dude makes or age of retirement or any of that shit. It's about what he has to say. I'm not seeing the problem.

i would agree except that there are those who think they are smarter than the rest and des3erve to live better. i agree with jenny holtzer! they are called the elite (by themselves) - this is a sreious question in society and one of the reasons for the mess we are in. read the literature and it is full of this stuff - laughing at those who work for a living and calling them suckers?? a small step from that to hamilton's great beast - In “Education is Ignorance,” Noam Chomsky cites Alexander Hamilton’s use of the term “great beast” to describe the unwashed mass of American laborers, the charges whose task it was Hamilton’s, and the other Founding Fathers’, to keep ignorant, complacent, passive, and protected.

Then prove it wrong. The arguments that the V character provides are intentionally faulty. Find the hole.

[-] 1 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

i agree again - we need to prove arguments wrong and not attack the person. but there are times as in romney's 47% comment where the elite show who they really are. i happen to like chavez and his comment about the mask coming off the usa and seeing the blood dripping from it's fangs! during the bush era. those that laugh at workers and think they are better than others should be shunned - like those at the romney dinner - and mostly at obama's also!

This country used to revere workers. Americans used to understand that workers were the backbone of society. Today workers are mocked. It's pathetic.

[-] 3 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

right on - labor creates all wealth!

There is very little that gets more respect from myself than people who bust their ass every mother fucking day....thats the stuff that makes the world go round and keeps family's head's above water.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23771) 11 years ago

Damn straight. :)

Irrespective of how VQ earns his $, your comment is excellent and very thought provoking. Edward Bernays, Walter Lippmann and Leo Strauss also come to mind.

You are right about not caring about his means of living....but do you honestly agree w ANYTHING the dude says? He's been shilling here for Obama all siummer? Oh yeah, and he sees racism in any honest critique of Obama, too.

I wasn't around for the summer.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23771) 11 years ago

I had a reply from Trevor, but seems this thread was shadow-banned. Why?

What does any of that have to do with the 1%? Because he made investment money?

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

well vq those who live off their investments should not really laugh at those who work for a living - at least not on this site. do you know jenny holtzer?? Jenny Holzer: Truisms

people are responsible for what they do unless they are insane. people who don't work with their hands are parasites.

[-] 3 points by Mooks (1985) 11 years ago

Oh ok. Yeah, nothing wrong with working. Definitely should not be mocked. Maybe he should have to wear the Cone again.

There is also nothing wrong with making some investment income too though. It is the key to a comfortable retirement.

[-] 2 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

i have no problem with making money - even lots of money and retiring early. but mostly do not mock others who have to work and i also don't like when people think they did it cause they are smarter than others! it is mostly luck - some brains and risk but lots of luck involved

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

If he took advantage of the housing boom, which is what Im assuming is what happened, well...

I've worked with plenty of people who werent too smart and needed no money down to make some great investments while the Fed was injecting the shit like heroin.

Its the internet dude. People run their mouth. Im sure me and a few here would prob be much more polite with each other, and find much more common ground, if sitting in a bar with one another.

Although there is a chance he made it all riding that unicycle and juggling bowling pins in political forums everywhere :)

[-] 1 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

i have no problem with people making money and retiring early - people who do that and laugh at those who go to work every day - call them sucka - well i don't like them. that is not a mistake - that is not a typo that is a romney 47% moment where your true feelings come out. those that think they are smart and not lucky are also not so smart in my opinion

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I agree. And it has been a fishy poster for a long time, due to ignorign certain truths that are rallying points for most OWS.

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

he is for sure hard to converse with - maybe this will make him mellow out a bit

[-] 1 points by mayda (285) 11 years ago

no way! that little creep

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

by the way mayda or whatever your name is - get a grip - you must be from cali

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

i think he means well but is a bit overbearing sometimes

[-] 1 points by mayda (285) 11 years ago

so how is cali - north or south

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

i thought you were the one who lived in cali???????

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 11 years ago

Not

[-] 0 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

as in not overbearing

[-] 0 points by conservatroll (187) 11 years ago

As in not meaning well. He spews democrat talking points and OWS is not about politics. You cannot debate with him. Call him on one of his ridiculous statements and his reply is name calling. He sees racists everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. It doesn't pay to even acknowledge his posts. Maybe if we ignore him he will go away....just like in grade school. One can only hope.

[-] 2 points by flip (7101) 11 years ago

he is very difficult - not sure what his deal is - maybe he is simply stupid - i think that would be the nicest way to explain his behavior
