This is disgusting news that has been a secret until now. The Obama's threw a lavish Alice in wonderland party at the White House in 2009, during a recession when millions were suffering. This party was reported about at the time it happened. It was not a secret at all. I recall the cat lady costume that Mrs. Obama wore. And I confirmed that at least a few newspapers carried the coverage. What I am still seeking is information about who paid for this party, which was held for military families and their children.

What no one is allowed to have tea parties until everyone is working? The White House party was "lavish" because they had costumes, fruit punch and a magic show?
We had a big haunted house at the old mill in our town with costumes, punch, and ghouls in 2009.

The invitees were the children of military service men and women along with the children of White House employees.

No matter who paid for the party the sad thing is that in times of hardship the White House should at least attempt to show that they are not "living it up" while the rest of the country is suffering.
That is true and the Obama's have threw quite a few lavish parties and the money and energy could have been used elsewhere
Well the money for his private parties is his and he can do with it what he pleases. State functions are to be expected, and I don't have a problem with them.
It is the appearance of Nero fiddling while Rome burns that bothers me.
