"Tea Party-backed candidates used a Midland millionaire's money to defeat traditional Republicans from Keller and Bedford and were close late Tuesday to ousting another from Arlington."

"OWS" should use millionaire's money and sell out to the likes of Koch? No, OWS should take notes and avoid this sell out route.

they supported a candidate and shook up an election, getting closer to putting someone who believes what they believe into power, kinda like what happened in 2010

This is what OWS needs to do, not drum circles.

No they voted people the THINK believe what they believe. What they get are corporate owned douches that support domestic drones, indefinite detention, SOPA, CISPA, PCIP, Canadian oil over US citizen property rights, and huge oil subsidies. This is what their great success of 2010 was. This year will be no different for the Tea Party. Small government? Fiscal responsibility?

Getting guys into office that do the opposite of what you believe because you let your cause get sold out is not success.

lol

Isn't getting the "traditional Republicans" that are so corrupt and WRONG out of office a GOOD THING? Isn't that what OWS is trying to do....get THE PEOPLE of this country to work to get the kind of people they want in office elected?

[-] 2 points by forjustice (178) from Kearney, NE 11 years ago

Study voting record of the "Tea Party" candidates that got voted into office in 2010. They are radically corrupt and anti Bill of Rights.

That is not what OWS is trying to do.

[-] 1 points by BetsyRoss (-744) 11 years ago

I'll do that...you study the voting record of the liberal/progressive candidates in office and we'll compare them ok?

[-] 1 points by forjustice (178) from Kearney, NE 11 years ago

I study both. Many democrats voting records prove the are not progressive.

Whatever that has to do with the fact that the Tea Party success at the polls has done zero to actually effect legislation in a manner that is congruent with their beliefs.

Read the original article I posted above -- candidates backed by Empower Texans got elected .

"Empower Texans is well-known for falsifying information -- lying about public education funding, for example, in order to zealously make cuts to state government. The organization is run by the Grover Norquist of Texas, Michael Quinn Sullivan.",,, http://progresstexas.org/tags/empower-texans

This is far right wing extremism sucking the tits of the rich. And you are thrilled about this? You should see a doctor immediately.

When OWS refuses to take and use the money of the rich and corrupt in order to reach their goals...then we can have a reasonable discussion on this topic. The people VOTED for the candidate they wanted to have in office. It's called Democracy.

[-] 1 points by JadedCitizen (4277) 11 years ago

94% of winning candidates are the ones who spent the most money.

Is that democracy?

This statistic has been fact checked by politico and they found it mostly true.

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 11 years ago

It's a GREAT thing, but beating on pots and pans won't get it done. The Tea party is doing and achieving concrete results. What are we doing?

[-] 3 points by geo (2638) from Concord, NC 11 years ago

What exactly has the Tea Party done that is concrete except to deadlock Congress?

[-] 3 points by mantis1 (28) 11 years ago

"We" are being run by anarchists and the 1%. That is what we are doing.

Why don't you take a break from posting here, step outside and look at what's really happening to your world...

yes. people should focus on issues here

not each other

[-] -2 points by SlacktivistsMakeMeSick (-22) 11 years ago

Issues? Yes, issues. You can start, Matthew, by learning the difference between "NADD" (which politically means nothing) and "NDAA" (which is a totally new bill every 12 months).

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

yes

laws are often passed with budgets

in last years military budget,

a law was passed to arrest US citizens with out charge who opposed to the US military

laws should not be passed with budgets

[-] -1 points by SlacktivistsMakeMeSick (-22) 11 years ago

Your four lines of text show you have no clue, Matthew.

Learn something, then share it. Otherwise you're simply spreading your own ignorance. The indefinite detention provisions of NDAA 2012 signed by Obama codify the executive authorities claimed by Bush II under AUMF 2001.

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

indeed, similar issues were in the patriot act

[-] -1 points by SlacktivistsMakeMeSick (-22) 11 years ago

You read fast! "Similar"? In what way?

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

not sure

one states detainment of suspected terrorist

the other detainment of military opposition?

[-] -3 points by BetsyRoss (-744) 11 years ago

Fighting, posting ideas back and forth, promoting propaganda that any 10 year old can debunk online, annoying the hell out of the American people on a hundred levels etc.

Oh, and telling the American people that "we" represent them while at the same time calling them stupid, blind, brainwashed slaves. Surely THAT will work if we just say it loud and long enough huh?

[-] -3 points by foreeverLeft (-264) 11 years ago

We don't want anyone in office that doesn't support free shit. We want our free shit but we won't expend all that effort to actually elect anyone. We'll march around, maybe break some windows but that's about it.

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

just another corp looking for it's government cut

[-] -2 points by foreeverLeft (-264) 11 years ago

Correct! OWS should kick Soros and his foul millions to the curb as well. Hell, he's paying the bill on this site.

The Tea Party is for little girls with imaginary friends. Fuck 'em.
