In 1985 when the Democratic Leadership Council took control of the Democratic National Committee, the Democrats sold out to Corporate America. Hence, Bill Clinton raised big money to win the Presidential nomination in 1992; and Barack Obama raised enough money to defeat John McCain: Goldman Sachs was Obama's single largest contributor in 2008.
Consequently, on economics, there is little difference between the Democrats and Republicans: they both represent the wealthy interests in our nation.
As a result, I left the Democratic Party after President Obama reneged on virtually all of his campaign promises. I am now supporting a true progressive candidate, Rocky Anderson, for President. (Please see the Barefoot Accountant’s Interview of Rocky Anderson, Presidential Candidate of the Justice Party, on May 29, 2012 at http://www.cpa-connecticut.com/blog/?p=5455)
All the Republicans and most of the Democrats in Washington are bought and paid for by Corporate America. We need to support a third party candidate who will change the status quo: voting for the lesser of two evils perpetuates our evil system. They will always follow the money and screw us in the end.
If Egypt can overthrow a dictatorship, so can we, if we all dedicate ourselves to this end. We all need to come together and make this happen now.
