Retired Philadelphia police Captain Ray Lewis became the game changer on November 17..... “For the first time, I had an officer break ranks at the barricade line. A white officer named Officer Murray. He introduced himself and he started asking me a few questions and I asked ‘Do you know the risk you’re taking?’ He was so brave that he said, ‘Hey this is still America and until a supervisor orders me back to the line, I’m going to talk with you.’

Oakland police Officer Fred Shavies is the only active cop who has gone on record with his support. “I totally agree with Occupy Wall Street. Even to an extent with Occupy Oakland.”

Just remember, if you are ok with police abandoning their posts and joining the OWS movement, then you have to be ok with them doing the same thing for other causes they support. What I mean is that we should expect our officers to do their jobs without allowing their personal feelings to impact their decisions. They should remain impartial and work only to maintain order. The best thing an OWS supporting officer could do is to hold his position on the line and encourage calm and rational behavior in his peers.

Imagine if officers only enforced the laws on groups his didn't agree with - there's no way you can think that would be a good thing.

It is true, we have the ability to subvert any group, any organization, any institution, here in the United States.

This includes Congress.

We have this ability because we are Americans. We will retain this ability so long as what we say and do remains both credible and true.

Interesting that he made a point to mention the race of the officer.

Why does it matter that the officer is white?

generally when one thinks about police brutality, its usually a white cop. its hard to get a black cop to beat or pepper spray someone. training web page http://tinyurl.com/7rvpv43

Really? A couple of black cops here in California beat a homeless man to death recently.

What does the original post have to do with police brutality?

You know your comment about black cops is completely racist.

I assume this is sarcasm.
