Forum Post: Corporations should NOT be persons

Many problems with corporatism could be addressed if the legal definition of these entities as "persons" under the law with rights etc is revoked and corporations properly held to account. All this was predicted by Canadian John Ralston Saul in "Voltaire's Bastards" - a great read.

I am for eliminating corporate personhood. If that can not be accomplished then corporations should have the same limitations and responsibilities of a person. Such as, no lobbyists at all, and taxation the same as a single person with no deductions.

AGREED!

There is a reason why MEN are created by god and gets their rights from god. (Dear atheists, replace god with the universe if you will for this example. I don't believe in a deity either)

We can ascertain that humans are created by natural forces. We exist, and we are created by natural forces that WE DID NOT CREATE. In otherwords, whether it be a big bang, or some divine force, we can recognize that humans are an organic creation.

Thus the source of OUR rights comes from the source that created us.

This also means that our rights cannot created or be taken away from anything OTHER than the source that created us.

However, corporations are the creation of MAN. It is a concept, that exists without a single physical presence (rather it is a group), and it does not occur naturally or organically, only by having a physical body can something be held accountable. Thus we can also recognize that a corporation has no authority as it cannot be held responsible for its actions the same way a human being can.

To be a person your creation must be through biological process, have a single physical body. A concept CANNOT be a human because it is not created biologically and does not have a single physical body.

The idea that corporations are PERSONS, is like saying DEMOCRACY is a person, or FORESTS are people. It's utter insanity.

True - I agree, they should not have persons' rights.

However, fiat currency is the basis of enslaving the people. That's what happened at the end of the Roman Empire. Nero played the fiddle (and debased the currency) while Rome burned.

END the FED.

AGREED! Corporations are not people! Lobbyists should be banned! They are not good for anyone. We don't vote for people to listen to lobbyists. They are supposed to listen to US the people! Decisions should be made based on what our country needs...not billion-dollar corporations that can donate as much as they want! The Federal Reserve should not be privately running this country either!
