Forum Post: Common Unifying Theme Needed for Effectiveness

Change will only come about when those in Government take the movement seriously. To get their attention we need a unifying slogan. I propose "THROW ALL INCUMBENTS OUT!" It is only when politicians think their rosy positions are threatened that they take anything seriously. Let's threaten their tenure. Then they will listen and begin to consider the changes required for equity among all. George12

I agree that without a consensus we may be doomed to being no more than a canary in the coal mine of these times. Consider revolutionizing democracy and ending corporatocracy by experimenting with a purple finger vote within Occupy as a means of establishing a harmonious message and voice?

Those in government will only take Americans seriously when Americans unify behind the law of the land, the Constitution for the United States of America and enforce it by amending it.

We need an Article V convention.

Congress is very afraid of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_to_propose_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution "Congress acted preemptively to propose the amendments instead. At least four amendments (the Seventeenth, Twenty-First, Twenty-Second, and Twenty-Fifth Amendments) have been identified as being proposed by Congress at least partly in response to the threat of an Article V convention."

Our first right in our contract is Article V, the right to have congress convene delgates when 2/3 of the states have applied for an amendatory convention.

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

Lots of facts here about Article V. http://algoxy.com/poly/article_v_convention.html

The theme is "neoliberal economics" --so called 'supply-side' economics. It has become an institution, a political and social model, and an economic nightmare. As I've said many times, it is this philosophy that is the actual cancer. It is way beyond capitalism, it is monarchy disguised as a Board of Directors.

YES!! I think that's a great idea! Or, at the very least, let's hold an official re-election of all incumbents inlcuding new candidates declared by the 99% and will be voted on by the people, not electoral colleges.

"throw the bums out" was the tea party position.
