I'm a member of NRA. I won't hide that... Ever. I'm a combat veteran and so is my wife, father and my grandfather, as well as one of my 3 uncles who served. We've seen the level humans can lower themselves to, both those we served with and those we fought against. I don't advocate violence, I actually fully embrace peace, but I'm a realist and accept the 'human condition' for what it currently is.

That being said, I'm against the NRA jumping on board with their latest email ad campaign of 'Occupy America' with no links to the actual movement, but just links to sell products that are NRA based.

No offense NRA, but what the fuck?? You can call me a liberal or whatever. In fact I'm not even an American citizen. Paper wise anyway. I'm an 'Alien'. I'm a legal immigrant.

But what does that mean? I'm allowed the 2nd amendment rights. I own long rifles and pistols. I fought for the interests of America and the UK in Joint Operations. I uphold the constitution. I'm even an NRA member!! FUCK! Its better than any of the police state bullshit my country of birth offers!

So what is 'American'... History believes its the ability to stand up to oppressive regimes (King George), Oppressed rights (most of the amendments in the constitution) and freedom of speech...

So by those standards, the occupy movement is more American than any current institution... in that they are willing to stand up to money driven politics that undermine a successful country!

I hear a lot of rhetoric about being 'American' these days, from a lot of people. When i ask them "What have you done for your country?" they just clam up... I'm not saying you have to serve or fight unjust wars, I'm just calling into question "What have you done"... There's a lot of implications in that question, that can only be answered by those questioned...

Just something to think about...

Thank you. No matter what anyone thinks of the protestors or their cause they are exercising their right to assemble, to free speech and to petition the government.

TO me this is the most valuable thing they are doing - showing America that it still CAN be done, even in this age of fear & repression that we live in.
