Forum Post: Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense -- fight for his nomination

In response to the news that former Sen. Hagel is a frontrunner for SecDef, a vicious smear campaign has been launched that seeks to impugn his character. While the Washington elite is committed to perpetual war, and considers American soldiers to be pawns to be moved around on the global chessboard, Hagel understands what war really means -- he would be the first SecDef with actual battleground experience since Caspar Weinberger. Mr. President, please ignore the laptop bombardiers and nominate a true American patriot, who puts America and American interests first -- and put the full weight of your enormous prestige behind him. You won't regret it.

Keep in mind what body is pushing for his nomination.

Criminals dont bring in ex cops unless they are willing to play ball.

This is no different.

Chuck's voting record is absolutely pathetic.

Theft of rights - Check

Wars of aggression - Check

Supports capitalism and current monetary policy - Check

Just because there are worse people than Chuck, doesn't mean people should support Chuck. How about supporting someone REAL

Spot on. And unless people start judging things with the same baseline we live our lives by (our politics is one of the lone examples where lesser of two shitheads is acceptable, in a nation of 300 million) then nothing changes.

Its time to stop settling. Its time to start getting real. Its time we start finding people who want to run for these things on our own.

Perhaps a "Want to Run?" tab on the top of the page? (although Im sure people will tell me thats WAY too political for Occupy, and part of me cant blame em.)
