Gold Guns and a maybe a Getaway plan? F*ck that...I'd rather fight these bastards.

[-] 2 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Yup...

[-] 3 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Good stuff. As usual Hedges knocks it out of the park for the most part.

Do you know who Elizabeth Duke is? How about Donald Kohn or Kevin Warsh? No? Well - you should. Because while Congress was debating back in 2008 whether or not to bailout banksters with a $700 billion blank check - these guys and girls were just doing it. They were funneling $7.7 trillion to Wall Street under the table - without one constituent phone call - without worrying about one election - without having to give one explanation.

They were able to do that because they're members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors - a group of people who are not voted into office, but have the power to completely dictate monetary policy in America. They are not politicians - they're technocrats - they're bankers and financial experts. Technocrats aren't interested in democracy - it takes too long, and often the interests of the majority of voters don't quite line up with the interests of the minority of bankers and foreign investors. Or - to put it in today's terms - the interests of the 99 percent rarely line up with the interests of the 1 percent. That's why - back in 2008 - the technocrats at the Fed weren't interested in waiting for Congress - with all of its open debate and constituent services - to bail out the banks - they just went ahead and did it themselves. According to documents obtained by Bloomberg News - in 2009 - the Fed dished out $7.7 trillion in no-strings-attached, super-low interest loans to Wall Street's biggest players.

The federal reserve is a cancer on this country...These GOP people in Iowa, know nothing..They pick people who will definitely not fix the problems of this country...

I hope people smarten up after this caucus and pick that one "crazy" candidate who is actually for restoring the constitution and getting rid of the federal reserve..

Everyone is content to keep doing the same shit till you can't do it anymore and then what? It's not going to be good...

Most people live in a fog they think is reality or they are so busy just trying to survive that they don't have time to think about what's happening here..It's time to be aware..it's time to be awake!

Fights for truth, fight for dignity, fight for the future of our children who will be slaves if we do not correct this issue...

We all MUST continue to educate ourselves as much as possible and share information with our friends. The main stream media has been bought and SIX CORPORATIONS own it all . . .

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 12 years ago

Yes.

[-] 2 points by LSN45 (535) 12 years ago

He hits a lot of things right on the head - in particular the fact that the corporations have essentially taken over our election process and government.

This video is going viral. I'm coincidentally about 2 hours into it on CSPAN right now. Hedges hits dozens of nails directly on the head, 3 hours of pure knowledge and insight.

As far as the title of this thread, someone calls into the show and asks Hedges what country his daughter should move to in order to live a more moral and free life, and Hedges responds that he loves this country and he recommends staying here and fighting for it. He later comments that we have to willing to be arrested in nonviolent protest (and in fact he has been). Hedges is clearly an Occupier at heart and may have participated in Occupy protests.

[-] 2 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

I believe he states several times that occupy is the countries only hope.

I just finished watching this three hour interview with Chris Hedges, and yes it was excellent. Everyone should see this.

The other half of that question from the caller was something like, what is the most effective action an older dispensable person can do to help his grandchild have a better life? The answer from Mr. Hedges was to put your body on the line in act of civil disobedience.

I've been in the streets with you courageous young people, and I am a grandpa as of this past February, who wants to see his granddaughter grow up in a better world. I'm wearing my old duds next time I hang out with you radicals!

The World As It Is:Chris Hedges - Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress:

Nation Books (April 12, 2011) | Language: English | 156858640X | EPUB + MOBI + pdf)| 368 pages | 0.4 mb + 0.5 mb

Drawing on two decades of experience as a war correspondent and based on his numerous columns for Truthdig, Chris Hedges presents The World As It Is, a panorama of the American empire at home and abroad, from the coarsening effect of America's War on Terror to the front lines in the Middle East and South Asia and the continuing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Underlying his reportage is a constant struggle with the nature of war and its impact on human civilization. "War is always about betrayal,"Hedges notes. "It is about betrayal of the young by the old, of cynics by idealists, and of soldiers and Marines by politicians. Society's institutions, including our religious institutions, which mold us into compliant citizens, are unmasked." collateral damage chris hedges, chris hedges the world pdf,

9/11 was an inside job!

The more I listen to Hedges, the less credible he seems. He is either consciously or unconsciously still part of the Grand Illusion.

http://www.nationofchange.org/decade-after-911-we-are-what-we-loathe-1315752459

"We were unable to accept the reality of this anonymous slaughter. We were unable because it exposed the awful truth that we live in a morally neutral universe where human life, including our life, can be snuffed out in senseless and random violence. It showed us that there is no protection, not from God, fate, luck, omens or the state.

We have still not woken up to whom we have become, to the fatal erosion of domestic and international law and the senseless waste of lives, resources and trillions of dollars to wage wars that ultimately we can never win. We do not see that our own faces have become as contorted as the faces of the demented hijackers who seized the three commercial jetliners a decade ago. We do not grasp that Osama bin Laden’s twisted vision of a world of indiscriminate violence and terror has triumphed. The attacks turned us into monsters, grotesque ghouls, sadists and killers who drop bombs on village children and waterboard those we kidnap, strip of their rights and hold for years without due process. We acted before we were able to think. And it is the satanic lust of violence that has us locked in its grip."

It's interesting that my father had a lengthy exchange with Jim Dwyer of the New York Times concerning the flaws in the official conspiracy theory of 9/11. My father was writing as a retired senior structural engineer for the US Department of Transportation. It was clear that the NYT was not interested in examining a point of view contrary to the OCT.

I don't see where Hedges is all that different from his aluma mata regarding trimming the truth to fit.

Tease propaganda's paper fist
Whose trade is all the truth that fits
Who often lies but never sits

Network News :

Guns, death and noise
Sand, oil and blood
Frontiers drawn on paper
No consideration made for
The poor creature who is living
By the grace of God just giving
He's live on network news
Live on network news

Flags, princes, kings
Patriotic tools
As freedom lies in twisted heaps
Whose final breath his soul to keep
Whose greatest foe, the endless sleep
Whose dying wish to reach next week
A bloody star on the network news
A bloody star on the network news

Tanks, boats and planes
Fire, pain and lies
Environmental terrorists
Tease propaganda's paper fist
Whose trade is all the truth that fits
Who often lies but never sits
But on the fence it's the network news
Yes, on the fence it's network news

The lion and the serpent parade out in the sun
All order, flex and gesture
All hail - the techno infidel has come
With satellite bravado and infra-red texture

Beyond these days in time to come
Whose fate is it to measure
Upon these sands such damage done
To spoil God's finest treasure

Beyond these days [etc repeated]

Guns, death and noise
Sand, oil and blood
Guns, death and noise
Sand, oil and blood

This is the Neocon design. It's so blatantly clear what is going on that it hurts to look at it. The gutting of the US economy and Constitution are the clear objectives of the Neocon Cabal. How these people continue to get so much support is beyond me.

[-] 1 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

Thanks for the video. It is great intellectual ammunition.

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 12 years ago

Use it...I hate to say it, actually if we don't go after these Corporate Oligarchs, They will be coming after all dissenters of the new Supra-Fascist state...

What would you do if you were in pre-Nazi Germany and saw it coming...

[-] 1 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

Sometimes I think it is better to just go to another country. Can we really stop Corporate America? Sometimes I think that a planet catastrophe is the only way out of this mess.

[-] 1 points by harryth (5) 12 years ago

The planet just ran out of natural resources- and yes it will fix this mess.

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 12 years ago

We could have that kind of catastrophe anytime..

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7819201/Nasa-warns-solar-flares-from-huge-space-storm-will-cause-devastation.html

A world without electricity, would stop the elites for a time..But there are other negative effects to consider..A 7B population is not sustainable without electricity, agricultural automation.

You can't really count on this occurring...It's possible though. See Carrington Event http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_storm_of_1859

Leaving the country? This is a worldwide issue....Fight now or later.

[-] 1 points by Quark (236) 12 years ago

I can't argue with that. When you are right you're right. I guess I want to hide my head in the sand.

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 12 years ago

Most people are hiding, but you are confronting the truth..Give yourself a break.

[-] 1 points by PublicCurrency (1387) 12 years ago

It's time for every state to charter their own state bank, just like North Dakota did, and for the Treasury Department to either buy the Fed from the for-profit banks that own it, or simply nationalize it.

Only when we get control of our money out of the hands of sociopathic banksters will our democracy begin to function for the people instead of just for the banksters.

Chris Hedges.......A legit source?

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

A legit source of what? You won't find a more intellectually honest person.

[-] 1 points by JimBeam (152) 12 years ago

That's why I asked the question I have never heard of him so I don't know his background. My understanding is that he is or was a Journalist.

[-] 1 points by nickhowdy (1104) 12 years ago

Hi Jim,

This man has in this video has clearly defined the issue, now it's up to us to make sure you tell people at home and at work what is going on and that it's not just some conspiracy theory...

Our country, our people have been attacked! People need to know the real enemy here..

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Yes, journalist and author. Though, I am biased because I agree with his big picture analysis. Though, I disagree on some minor details.

[-] 1 points by fightclub2012 (74) 12 years ago

amazing video thus far.
