Forum Post: Chase Bank about to foreclose on civil rights activist while espousing support for Black History Month and Martin Luther King's values.

This is pretty amazing stuff. Elderly civil rights activist being foreclosed upon by Chase Bank even when TWO different entities have offered to buy the home and let Helen Bailey live out her life in her home.

Yet here is what Chase Bank chortles...

Begin Quote: "A new Chase website honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and declares: "the values he espoused are the values that JPMorgan Chase also tries to stand for around the world."

But as the bank wraps itself in the King brand, Chase is planning to kick Helen Bailey (a 78-year-old grandmother who marched for civil rights and spent her life working with disabled children) out of her house on February 15th -- right in the middle of Black History Month.

Occupy Nashville is fighting back. And they know that enough publicity on Chase's hypocrisy will embarrass the bank into letting Ms. Bailey keep her home....." endquote

Both points well taken...I am sure there will be a positive outcome to this.

My question is....what makes anyone think the Banks really give a damn...period??

I find your line of reasoning destructive to the 99%. Why do I have to care what they think, I instead simply care about what makes sense, and what seems to be the fair thing to do.

And to that end, I don't give up.

fairness rules, caring about what corrupt people think makes me think you are one of them.

Well, that's an oxymoron statement.... If you didn't care what they think you wouldn't protest against it! After all...it is the thoughts of the bankers that have created this mess, then comes actions. We learn that in order to produce something, you must first have an idea....So don't get all huffy with me because you cannot comprehend what is right in front of your face...THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN!! There is no such thing as being one of them....who are they? You said you didn't care...so aren't you a tad off base?? Is there a rule that states I must defend myself to you or anyone else on here...get real!!

I don't fucking care if they don't give a damn, that just means the people being affected are not mobilized in manner that would make the bankers care.

Such as, 100,000 signatures for a student loan penalty forgiveness, but a family being unfairly foreclosed upon gets 500 signatures.

That is not a cohesively functioning group in my opinion. When all the unfair foreclosures that appear on Change dot org start getting 100,000 signatures, the bankers will begin to take notice.

I doubt it!!!

If the bankers are left with no more "elitest" money to gamble with...then they might take notice... Look at the history of the Banks and how they got their start. They do not need average Joe Blow to exist.....therefore; they don't give a damn about student loan signatures, or mortgage foreclosures or any of the people involved in these fiances....All they care about are the Stock Market # and it's up and down...that is how they make money... human lives mean nothing to them....don't you understand???

But they still have to face the regular people everyday. If the bankers begin to wonder if the doorperson who opened the door signed the petition, or the local waitress at their favorite restaurant signed the petition, things would change.

Right now the banks see the masses as not being able to truly mobilize. A group like Occupy that will stand in the cold for months, and have thousands who stop by even if its just once a week, but won't sign online petitions to oppose unfair foreclosures, begins to earn the label of narcissism in my book.

She should not get a pass just because she is black or because it is black history month. Why not help her raise the money? I would contribute to that because she is elderly and helped kids. But just to blame someone else is not the American way. There is a site called FREEGOVMONEY .com and it shows people how to get money to help in times like this. We have to help each other people, thats the way our forefathers did it.

The point is Chase Bank is PROFITING off of publicly aligning themselves with Martin Luther King's beliefs, then won't allow a homeowner to sell their home so they pay off their Chase Bank debt.

It's HYPOCRISY.
