If these protests are to make a difference, there needs to be a leader I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but it needs to be said:

These protests are a joke so far.

There is no leadership, no distinguishable goals, no unified voice. It's a group of hippies, trustafarians, hipsters and idealistic college students. Most of those not in attendance see the protests as a pathetic and already failed attempt to raise awareness for the kind of reform the country actually needs.

Though those not in attendance may sympathy with the ideals of the protest, they will never vocalize as much and certainly never attend the protest because they are meaningless so far. Wall Street is laughing. The 1% is laughing.

That said, it's not too late. There must be immediate and decisive change in the nature of protests in order for any of the ideals of those in attendance to come to fruition. In short, there needs to be leadership, organization and real, achievable goals.

The 99% deserve to be heard. The 1% deserve to pay their fair share of taxes. Make no mistake however, these protests will fail if the change I've described isn't made. And, if they fail, the ideals those in attendance believe in will be even more distant, more unbelievable than they ever were.

If you want change, rise up with a message. Don't just complain.

I believe the Occupy protests will outlive the media's attempt to discredit it. Yes, the people's protest does not have a single leader that can be bought off, and that's a good thing. It hasn't been hijacked by a known organization because the people (protesters) don't trust these organizations. And we are right not to trust money-backed political organizations who operate on spin and bribery...we must not trust any of them.

We are the citizens who inhabit this country. We may not have a snazzy doctrine of rhetoric, but we have our minds and hearts which tell us that we are no longer in control of our once Democratic goverment and we MUST get control back. Our voices will meld, and a clear message will be sent. An organization from WITHIN the movement will form, one that we can trust. Give it some time.
