The healthcare industry lobby (insurance cos., medical equipment co.s, pharmaceuticals, etc) is the biggest lobby in American history. This lobby will send a nice $$ check to any politician in any party, in any branch of government who will protect their profit margin by any law or initiative necessary = elephant in the room. This is a gigantic 'for profit' industry with shareholders to pay. Is there some reason that people think that the costs of healthcare will go down if more people are forced into the market? Who ISNT being bitch slapped by this industry? (Besides the shareholders.) I do not support either "side" in this sham of a debate on whats right for the American people as far a healthcare goes. Tyranny comes in any form it can to complete its task. If you want to lead your people, protect them from tyranny. Most of all your own.

healthcare is out of control in pricing because it is not a demand that people can decide not to pay

it's pay or die

Elasticity is key in service/product supply and demand. Oranges get more expensive, buy apples. Your leg is broken, there is no alternative to getting it fixed.

Sham of a debate?

Where are the conversations on consolidation which is increasing the prices?

Where are the conversations on forcing those organizations claiming tax exempt status to prove it?

Where are the conversations regarding those lobbyists fighting medical equipment taxes?

Not exciting enough?

Let's get real. Those conversations could have been had but it was more important to fight the insane distortions and propaganda because it was funner. It was more important to allow the distortions to continue and come up with snappy slogans.

Guess what? The longer that people spend ignoring the boring parts is exactly how long it is going to take for people to stop being screwed. You might have noticed that the prices are higher in those states where they have their own swell plan or have chosen the opt out. Where are those state right folks?

Thats the type of debate that is needed.

we have been conditioned to believe that if industry wants to make money it will become efficient to get money

but the money is forced by the new healthcare law

and health is a necessity not a demand
