Forum Post: Capitalism is Freedom

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Free enterprise assumes that individuals and/or corporations will produce any and all needed or desirable products and services in exchange for profits and wealth.

Capitalism is the mechanism by which plutocrats and their banks fund material enterprises and services in exchange for a percentage of the profits.

An implied corollary to the free enterprise theorem: a community that acts to supply its own needs and wants on a non profit basis is a socialist threat to the free market/capitalist utopia that supplies all goods and services on a for profit basis.

All communities must act to regulate any activity whatsoever in such a way as to protect the intellectual property rights of individual and corporate producers and their capitalist patrons. Rentier monopolists must not be dispossessed of their means of wealth accrual. An urgent need for the medicines, food, energy or other proprietary products or services do not excuse the abridgement of the rights, profits and freedom of capitalist owners.

If there ever comes a time when no entrepreneur volunteers to produce and distribute the goods we must have to survive and/or live in comfort, we must not join together to create those things for ourselves and deny the opportunity for capitalist profits

If such a situation could arise, which of course the perfection of the free market makes impossible, it is our duty to die for the preservation of the ideal capitalist economy that the fundamentalist God intended.

''To Confront Coronavirus We Need an Emergency Wealth Tax" ... by John R. Talbot:

"A one-time 3% wealth tax on the world’s richest 10% could raise $9 Trillion toward economic recovery."

Capitalism is Communism apparently. We all work to pay tax which our government divvies between the top five percent of companies to use as they like for bonuses stock buybacks - more resources etc. The companies pay us a salary, which gets spent back on their goods and resources. The government hires these same companies as contractors who they also pay to build and maintain our infrastructure. These companies do not have to pay any tax since they send representatives to run for seats in office as well as to lobby. The government also grants these same companies exclusive permissions to all resources - communications, land, water, oil, etc which it then sells to us at whatever cost they wish. There is scarcely a separation between WS and Corporations: The New Communism is Wall Street. And during this pandemic we can see how private sector workers are being forced to go to work in dangerous conditions for the "greater good" of our "economy" without actually sharing in any of the benefits of a government job. All of our resources and benefits of labor are being funneled to the top in the exact same way as a Communist system would. So I'm having difficulty seeing how this is a free market system where anyone can play or benefit. Corporations are now controlling our government and making all decisions; even about pandemics. Those decisions aren't being made for the people but for the people running the companies, receiving all of the gains and benefits - exactly like Communism. So we have Corporate Communism?

The health and welfare of the Wall St Oligarchs and Owners are the sole purpose of government and the general population.

Don't forget: it is our sacred duty to live and die for the preservation of the economy that extracts wealth from we the people and concentrates is with our betters.

“When a company fails, it doesn't fire their employees, it goes through a packaged bankruptcy, (so) if anything what happens is the people who have the pensions inside the companies, the employees of these companies, end up owning more of the company. The people that get wiped out really - are the speculators that own the unsecured tranches of debt or, the folks that own the equity. And by the way, those are the rules of the game. That’s right. These are the people that purport to be the most sophisticated investors in the world. They deserve to get wiped out.” BUT DON'T! - from ...

What pensions are those? The executives and upper management? I'm concerned about the goods and services that will not be produced because those investor/controllers don't want to risk any more money. I want people to wake up and see what the real economy is about. Fuck the investors' wives and daughters after we take all their assets and the plutocrats have been drawn, quartered and the fragments burned at the stake.

Consider, "The COVID-19 Pandemic Is Exposing the Plague of Neoliberalism'' .. by Henry A Giroux:

as - ''In a time of crisis, capitalism reveals itself as a disimagination machine whose underlying message is that the market provides the only forms of agency left.''

I do totally get your point and reason for your irritation but my first reply above, was really about trying to show that even to a Hedge Fund Manager...the iniquity of modern finance capitalism is abundantly clear.

"America is the richest third world country on earth..." someone tweeted.

And you're right. With any luck the epidemic will also expose the strength of the people of earth united in a one world cause. Unlike past wars, in this one the US is everyone and the THEM is a threat to all human kind. Now I'm going to tweet the second sentence of this paragraph, preceded by your quote: "In a time of crisis..." and the link too.
