Since 1980, Canada has sold 99.5% of it gold. Canada now has the 78th largest holding of gold of all countries. Countries such as Bolivia, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Macedonia have more gold than does the Bank of Canada.

I think a lot of you are forgetting that things will likely change when we elect a Republican in 2012.

I don't think any country that does trade with the USA will be 'safe' when the dollar collapses. However, I don't think that gold is the issue.

The dollar is collapsing largely because China is pulling the rug out from underneath it. The USA has gone on wild military escapades trying to conquer the entire middle east, using a dollar backed by nothing to fund it. Now China and Russia think that the USA is a military threat TO THEM, and has to be stopped. The easiest way to stop the USA is to stop using the US dollar for trade.

Most of Canada's trade is with the USA, so when the USA's economy goes into the toilet, Canada's trade will too.

I think that owsleader is right. It's too late to leave the USA now. I was talking to an American friend living here in Canada. He says all his relatives want to come to Canada, but it's very difficult now.

However, if it's any consolation (not that it would be), our own Christian fundamentalist Prime Minister Stephen Harper, now illegally in power, has given the US Police and the US military permission to come into Canada whenever they like to enforce the law.

There is always the option like Vietnam war to come in illegally

For many canada will be your only option, unless you can speak spanish,

If you have some money asia is nice,

I really think Canada will be ok, sure their trading partner goes to shit, ... but you folks give the USA way too much credit, most of Canadians out in the bush would just move on with their lives.

I agree that US cops will come to canada, but they'll only be looking for money, make sure that you have none, and stay low on the radar,

Yes I suppose, if you are good at camping, have a rifle and can hunt, can fish, can live off the land...most of the Canada/U.S. border is undefended and most of Canada is uninhabited. If you can't do that, there is a chance you might starve or freeze to death alone. I suppose you could bring a backpack full of food. The rocky mountains would be a good place to hide.

Did you see RAMBO (FIRST BLOOD)? Where did they say he would go after they lost trail? To the city, even real life Rambo's tend to know the best place to hide is in plain site, the fact is living alone in the woods brings more attention, than being another derelict in the streets.

Yes, that's true. Dmitry Orlov, who talks about what happened in the USSR when that collapsed, said if they kick you out of your house, just move into another boarded up one. He says you have two choices, fight or hide. If you fight, you will die. Also, Micheal Ruppert said that in times like this, we need the support of our family and friends.

Here's a short-list of nice places to hide when the USA civil war starts, but you should have already left.

Regarding safe haven for 'money' learn history and read a book like I have already mentioned the above links point to a good discussion on good places to bail too.

I couldn't cut&paste as OWS will not allow long conent,... imagine that?
