I feel like the biggest problem is money in politics. In fact, it may be such a huge problem that everything else is simply a SYMPTOM of this (unsafe working conditions, lack of environmental protections, etc.)
How about this amendment:

What if the Occupy groups in each state organized a push for a constitutional convention to get the amendment process started? That's the other route you can go if Congress is unwillling to introduce the amendment. This (along with the need for a bill declaring corporations are NOT individuals) might shake the foundations of the status quo that many of the other problems fall like dominos.
