Up for consensus: I suggest research and funds be put toward purchase, and conversion of diesl powered space heaters. Conversion to run on bio diesel will not only heat the sleeping quarters but obviously promote lower carbon exhaust fuel usage.

Also I suggest funds be released for the purchase of bio diesl, contract for delivery and storage of said fuel.

I've seen some pretty nifty heaters created that run off waste oil (stuff that would just be thrown out). Perhaps some handy people at the protest can try to put something like that together. Given that it's an open space and structures are not allowed, our resources might be better put towards warm wool army blankets and the like. Also those little pocket hand/foot warmers really take the edge off.

Did some research on the waste oil heaters… kind of unwieldy and expensive. Would hate to see money spent and then it thrown out. I think the hand warmer idea is great. As is blankets. However in cold winter months after a day marching in protest I think its hard for the body to generate enough heat to counter cooling air temps. Blankets might not be enough. Maybe hand warmers are. Cost of hand warmers vs cost of fuel should be considered environmentally as well as $$.

I agree with this

"bio fuel takes away food from the poorest on the planet"

and this

"I suggest we use our fellow protesters as heaters."

Big fan of this

“Just head back to your tent with someone you agree with and spend some time in a sleeping blanket with them.”

I am not trolling (don’t know what that means).

I believe bio fuel the least damaging for an occupation in a climate where the low temps in the winter months are around 20 degrees.

I have seen how few people are in the park on an off night.

I would hate to see people have to abandon the park on a nasty night, like many last winter, and return to the park the next day to find it barricaded off just as Wall St. is. We could be looking at a Valley Forge scenario if preparations are not made.

I believe donations to the cause could cover this expense.

I welcome alternatives to my suggestion that will minimize hypothermia etc.

Funds for diesel? bio fuel? Are you serious or just trolling?

I completely oppose this.

I suggest we use our fellow protesters as heaters.

Just head back to your tent with someone you agree with and spend some time in a sleeping blanket with them.

You'd be surprised how efficient this is.
